Then and Now...Mixed Media Monday-Pens and Pencils

This is my version of pens and pencils. I found this to be a hard one, in fact I was not going to participate. I made this one and thought I cant submit that. But after evaluation I decided to. It is meant to be rough looking and not polished. I hope you get that from the art.

We need a little help from you....

I was contaced by Jillian a fellow blogger about helping out her family, by creating a star. Now you ask why would she want you to create a star. I read her email (below) and was intriqued went to her site and read her blog (see sidebar under Jillian will take you to her site). She is teaching her children about the holocaust, and in the process making us remember......that genocide exists and still does today. So I am going to create that star and send it to her, and it will also be for the millions of people who have lost someone they love... So why dont you go over to her site and look at her blog and maybe you to will be inspired to do something good today.

have been coming to your blog for awhile now. I thought I would write
you aquick note to see if you would be interested in helping. I'm doing a
little home school project with my kids. We want to build a small Holocaust memorial in our front yard, so that my kids can remember all the Jews that lost their lives. We are asking people to send us “stars.” Any kind of star, made from
anything you wish. These stars will symbolize the lights that went out due to the
Holocaust. If you are interested in doing this please let me know... I'll email
you ouraddress.

The Daily Grind....

I dont really have a daily grind...since I retired I feel like i am on a holiday. I need routine in my life, that is what work does. Now I am trying to build my life without outside working and get a routine. I have not managed it yet, but will. I need to priortize duties that need to be done each day, accomplish those and also have time for me. I have been feeling like everything lately that I have been creating is not up to parr. I am not looking for compliments from anyone. Dont you ever just look at what you are creating and say I am not an artist. Look at what everyone else out there is doing, I feel like mine is very amertursh. So I decided to try something different and make a few ATC and stretch my limits, try different techniques and see how it goes. Here is my first try. I used Rangers Inks and the Blending soloution and make the backdrop used a stamp I have hanging around and black pen. So what do you think...

I used crayon for the whole drawing and then melted the wax with the little iron that I have. I would like to have painted in Acrylics as I think it would have popped with brighter colours. The Green Door-Inspiration Thursday

I was going to take a pass on this week. I did not have any pictures of doors, did not really want to draw one. But I then remembered having some pictures of doors that I had gotten from under the free good section of (Robin Marie) of Paper Bag Studios blog. I love all her photographs. I decided to take the door concept further and that really the door is a metaphor for Life. Then the I cooked up a story in my mind ,that this was left on the door by a woman who tried to explain her lover why she was leaving. I am quite the philosopher (lol). Well I am also a poet (not a great one) but I love poetry all kinds and I write it. Not many of my poems see the light of day, they are usually all stuffed in a folder. But I really thought about how this one fits the door topic. Since you probably cant read it, look below:

The Changeling

I am who I am nothing more
I choose who I am when I walk through the door
I could be the girl that you openly adore
I could be the girl who is a total bore

I change as fast as winter to summer
I can freeze you in a glance or make you melt like butter

You still chase me like a hunter after his prize
I dont want you, cant you see the pain in my eyes

The time for us was to short to brief
Like a bolt of lightning we both felt the heat

This was an affair of twof hearts and minds
We both knoew it was just a matter of time
Life moves more quickly than you and I
We drifted apart and were helpless to understand how and why

Take this memory of me and work it around in your mind
Think of me as a toy who is not quite sound
A part missing and always clanking around

I am known as a changeling
A girl with no hear and no mind
Who loves and leaves them on a whim or a dime

The theme is Coffee or tea I do not drink coffee, so here is my take on tea. I am not sure if I like the way it turned out. I used crumpled orange tissue paper, white pen, brown paint, coffee holder from Starbucks and an old paper bag. I think it turned out to brown. But here it is anyway...
