Just Tugging along

 

Well this is no 1 of the 100 creative art project.

so far this is what I have done

 

made 100 6x6 scrapbook pages (2 glued together for strength)

and a old medical book page to all of them

gessoed each one

painted 5 to start

and made 2 so far completed

(the other one tomorrow)

 

this project was going to be all about structures it took

me forever to decide that.  After I made the first two, I changed

my mind and decided I should not be so hard on myself and

decided to do collage.  My collage needs work, so

by the time I do 100 of these, I should have improved. I

hoping for that result.  But I decided one element will be

in all my collages, the city,   The first one, which

I call Tugging along (lol) I had fun with,

I had some gelli painted deli paper so I

made them waves, and just went with random paints,

and I also love drawing boats, not hard one, but I

am getting better at them.  So that's it.  I hope you like it.

A little perspective.

 

This is a collage that I made a while ago.  I have been working on my 100 project,

not going to be as easy as I thought, should be able to show you some

in a few days.  I have been working slow and steady on them, plus I have

been practising drawing chairs, I know it sounds crazy. But I cant

draw chairs all that well, its the perspective thing that gets me

everytime.  So I have been reading up on perspective. I often

wonder if any of the masters cared about perspective.

Saturday Daze

 

Today the weather was fantastic, the snow is just about gone.  Probably one more snow before its really gone for good.  The above little ditty was done on a napkin I had, drew the elephant and painted add a piece of striped cardboard I had and called it a day.

This is an old one , because its throwback Saturday.

Today I am off to pick up some new clothes I bought, but didn't bring

home because today they are an additional 40 percent off, so a girl

has to save some money.  I used to love shopping, but not so much any more

I would rather spend money on stuff I don't need, art supplies.  Anyway I needed

these things so I did the work and got the clothes.  I am meeting the shopper for lunch and a little more shopping then home.  I love Saturdays when its do whatever you feel like doing.

I got that loving feeling

Sometimes I just like to create silly art. I was watching jimmy Fallon and just fooling around and this what came out.

Today I am going to put some paint on my 100 project got all the papers ready which really is the big job. I had to get them ready first or I know I would not finish the project.

Friends and stuff.....

 

 

This is the page that I made at the art journal class yesterday.  Everybody

makes the same page, but I made my different they had butterflies and

I am not a butterfly girl.  Today its out to lunch with my neighbour we

are quite good friends.  We only really met about 3 years ago, and they

have lived there for about 7 years.  We always said hi, bye etc, but

that was it.  But she started walking her dog when I walked mine

and friends we became. I have met more people in my neighbourhood from walking the dog. The weather is going to be beautiful on

Friday can hardly wait, although we still have snow from a

recent snowfall, it has been great.  All the shorts come out

(NO NOT ME) but the rest of the city, even if there is still

snow on the ground, the nice weather period is short here

so you gotta grab it when you can.



Art Journal

 

Well today has been quite the day and its only 2:00 pm.  Today went to

an art journaling class at my favourite scrapbook store, from 10:00 to 1:30.  I love going there talking with the other ladies doing a couple of pages in my art journal

and learning some new techniques.  Just got home and realize I had not posted

yet, so here I am.  The rest of the day I am going to be working on my 100 project,

maybe penciling in some drawings.  Something I can do while I sit with the

hubster and he watches TV.  Ok enough for today I better get my housewife

hat on and do something around here.

a new challenge

These papers are for a new challenge that I have decided to do.

It's a big challenge 100 art pages

So I decided the substrate was 6x6 scrapbook pages

Two together to add weight

Plus 6x6 old text from my mothers old medical reference book

Then a coat or two of gesso so it will not let the paint soak thru

I have decided mixed media for these

And mty theme will be structures which gives me a lot to play around with

 do you make excuses for yourself when you do your art.  I do I  will go down to the studio with great intentions of creating art, and I wont do it, I will clean up, or sit there, or go thru some old papers  , but I wont do any art.  Then I will be mad at myself for not following thru on my plan.  Here is gem  that I found on this great website about creativity http://www.createintandem.com/

that sound about right to me.  I think I have the fear of failure when creating, the fear
that when its finished it wont be good enough.  But really good enough for who, do
I have such high expectations of myself , I have to learn to just let it go, and just create.
Because truthfully I have to create every day, I cant explain it, but I think about art every day.  Do you?

When I did this angel I cut a girl out of a magazine who was dancing

made of copy of her, glued her down to my background, and painted

her, and made her an angel. She's one I think I showed here on the blog before.

 

Last night the shopper and I went to a paint party.  We had a great time

and each created a canvas, pictures tomorrow.  Wine and snacks and lots

of great company.  Lots of laughing and flinging paint around on my

canvas.  Going to do it again next month.

 

Snowing today so the plan is to do some painting, but we

will see how the day goes.  Sometimes the plan you make

is not  the plan you do.

Birth of an Idea

 

This started as a huge piece of poster board, that

was on my table when I took a course.  So they were

going to throw it out, so I took my painting home on it.

I then cut it up into 6x6 pieces and some smaller.  So

when looking at the paint that was left on it, wondering

what I was going to do with it, I saw the start of a flower,

and this is what came out.  I added a little more paint

to the background, but not much.  I love this one,

it just flowed for me.

 

Do you ever have those days when the art gods just smile down at you?

Playing dress up

 

I know your properly wondering what kind of animal this is

well it started out like a bunny and then didn't work

so I made it a cat, I know you don't know any cats that look like this

but you never know when you going to run into one.

Anyway thanks for the well wishes for my birthday.  I had

a great day, got lots of great presents, and had a wonderful

meal with all my favourite people.

 

I have been organizing my pinterest making new folders moving

stuff where it logically should be, and easier for me to look at.

I am telling its like addictive, so much great art out there.

I am not much into instagram, because I don't understand it,

I must be old.  I am thinking its like facebook but different, if

you can explain it I would be glad to hear.

Ok its late at night, and I am going to go and enjoy what's left of it

I had a bad day.....but not today

I know not my usual in your face full of color art

a angel has a bad day. 
 

But I am not having a bad day, because today is my birthday

yeah just turning 32 have remained that age for a number

of years now.  Going out for dinner en mass family,

having cake at home, and today just enjoying my

day and spending some birthday money.

To selfie or not.

On thing I not into is, taking a selfie, because I hate having my picture

taken, it shows every double chin I have.  It add 10 pounds (that's my story and I am

sticking to it).  I am not one of those people who when you go lets take your  picture,

who will  make a huge fuss out of it, I just smile and make the best of it.  But I

don't go out of my way to get my picture taken.  Do you like

getting your picture taken?

Working my goal

 

At the beginning of the year one of my goals was to sell my art.

So I am working towards that goal ever so slowly, but am

working at it.  I am first off redoing this blog, spiffing it up

and making it a bit more user friendly hopefully.  I know

a little code not much, but I am working it.  The second

thing that I am doing toward that goal.  I have been

trying out different graphic places to print my art for art

prints.  I must tell you I bought some art online (no names)

and could hardly wait to get it and I paid a pretty price

for it and when it came, it was just from her printer, and

not nice at all. So I am trying out places, different papers

and reasonable pricing.  So far 2 things I am doing from my list

Simplify

 

I have been loving using my stabilo pencil.  I just found them at my art store.  They work wonderful with water, I used them on the lady, and shaded.  Just signed

up the shopper and I to  Friday the 20th to a paint party, at my Scrapbook

store.  There all the rage here, usually its in a Lounge with drinks, and appetizers.  But they are bringing in the lady on Friday Night and having wine and stuff, and you

paint a canvas pretty reasonable 38.00.  And I get to bond with the shopper (lol).
Where you live do you have a time change.  We do, so we put our clocks, ahead
an hour, so nice because now its not dark till about 8.00 and you can walk
the dog in the light.  In the summer its doesn't really get dark till about 11:00.

Ok gotta go, tell me your favourite new art supply that you love.

Back to the Farm

This picture was made with photo elements.  These are all my own elements all hand drawn and painted.  What I did was scanned the bird, the farm ,and the bird on top of the roof and then put each one onto the background.   I think it turned out pretty good.  I am always drawing birds and buildings in my sketch book and then scanning them just in case I need something. Just another way to create not on canvas.

The elephant in the room

Still my old nose.  I had fun with this though the wings look a little wonky.

I drew the wings after I finshed her and then added whiteout for texture.

Also to anonymous I do try to get back to each persons blog who leaves a comment.

I also always leave a comment when I visit other blogs.  if its not the same day they leave the comment, it might take me a week but I do get back to there blog.

Angel Wings

these two challenge sites this month have things associated with wings

this one was done just a couple of days ago, I am experimenting with
noses, I have decided that I have to do my ladies noses different
than I am doing them now, now this one is an example of
practice.  On my next ladies  you will see how a different
nose on my ladies give you a completely different look, I think
a better look.  Anyway I drew her and painted her, and then
I put her on my painted page.  Now I always scan any background
that I do and put it in a folder on my computer called backgrounds,
and then I always have a background, and just go into
photoshop and plop her on a background of my choosing
and there she is .  Well I am off to brunch with my friend who
does my taxes, a little catch up, and a good friend
and that's all I need for today

Its all about the Birds

 

You might have seen this one before, I did it awhile ago, but I am sure it

Half pencil and marker, and half digital,  the background was digital,
when I finished it, none of my backgrounds made it pop, so I
used Photshop elements to make it pop.  Its very smooth looking
and I should have been made with more texture, but I am not quite that good yet at Photshop.
Today its all about using some gift cards that I have left  from Christmas,
that have been lighting a fire in my pocket.  The shopper is coming for
dinner, the boyfriend is busy, so its steaks on the barby, stuffed baked potatoes,
asparagus with cheese, mushrooms, and garlic bread.  Oh I am making
myself hungry.  Ok lots of shopping to get done hope you have a great day
today.  I always go back and re read what I have written, it seems my
head says the word, and I think I type them, but they don't appear
on the page.  I haven't had time to play with the stamps I made, but when
I do I will show them to you,

Well whats going on with you today, just got home from the gym

I hate exercise I really do, but if I want to live to be 103 and still

creating art I have to do it, plus that the Dr. orders for my life.

Picked up the new book (at the library)

Traci Bautista new book called Printmaking Unleashed.

Okay this is my theory I get it at the Library , read

it thru and then and only then I decide if I like and

then I buy the book.  Gotta tell you  90 percent

of the books don't make the cut.  So much

repetitive nonsense,
.  But this

one looks like a keeper.  Last night made

some foam stamps while watching the TV, gonna

try them out today and lets have a show and

tell tomorrow.  Okay you have read enough

Is it a plane, is it superman no its another bird

 When Art Journal Challenge                 http://art-journal-journey.blogspot.ca/2015/03/032015-things-with-wings-dinge-mit.htmldecided on birds, I knew they would be sick of me bythe end of this challenge.  If you read this blog a lot I love drawing birds, I love collaging birds, I love painting birds, I love incorporating birds in my paintings.  Technically its not birds its "things with wings" I might do other things but birds are my favourite go to item to draw.
  I like drawing a few things, can you guess what they are.  If you guessed, cities, birds, portraits, yes I really like drawing those.  So I have decided I better move on and get better at other things, like whole bodies, hands, feet, so stay tuned you might be seeing some pretty crappy hands and feet coming to a blog near you. In case you are wondering, this is a painted messy paper towel, I drew the bird separately, and I used my painted papers and collaged on him, they glued him down.

Well its happened I think I have the flu.  I have not had the flu

for I don't know how many years.  I faithfully get the

flu shot, and it straight off misses me.  Well the

hubster who also gets the flu shot was very ill

last night, we are talking to the porcelain sick, bad headache,

all the sudden losing his voice, ok that part was not

so bad.  I wake up today and all the sudden I

am off, you know that feeling in your stomach

when you know things are going

to go downhill quickly.  So no swimming today

until I find out what going on, maybe it

will miss me I hope so.  Okay lets not

talk about it anymore.  Moving  on I have a hankering to

make a huge kick ass painting, so I am going

to do it.  Off what I have no clue, any ideas

will be appreciated.  And after it done

its going above the bed......

Monday Blues

 

Hello all, I was going to take a few days off after

posting 29 days in a row, an amazing feat for me,

and it was hard.  Okay stop all the clapping, I am

still the humble girl you all know. But was just Pinteresting around and decided to post after all.  What have I been doing

lets see, I have been watching the whole series of Felicity

I have not finished it yet, its 4 seasons long, and I am still

on Season 1.  I dyed my own hair, mistake, its blond now

and I don't look good blond I don't have the skin color

for it.  Going to the hairdresser on Friday for a quick fix.

The shopper is going to NewYork with the boyfriend the

beginning of May, so I have been helping her try to\

find a hotel in there price range.  God NYC is expensive,

but I so want to go there.  On my bucket list, so much to see

and do.  Its snowing and blowing and cold today, it was

blowing so hard, I didn't want to go on the freeway to

go swimming, so missed it today.

February Wrapup

 

well I am back.  Glad the challenge is over, its hard to do 29 faces all in one month, and try to make them all look different and keep the readers of this blog interested.

Well today I am going wrap up February and move on to March

•  went to 4 movies
•  watched the whole series of The Originals on Netflix
• Read 3 books
• went out to lunch with friends 3 times
• bought a new stencil, new paint, and ink pads
• finished an art journal and started a new one
• went swimming 20 days
• didn't gain any weight
• didn't lose any weight
• tried 2 new low fat recipes
• had Chinese food from Panda Express (just opened) very good
• went shopping with the shopper 2 times
• went to a course at my favourite art store and made a journal page
• signed up for two courses on line
• bought a riggers bag online and received it
• uploaded new tunes I bought at ITunes
• uploaded new books I bought at Ibook
