Home Home on the Range.....

Made it home safe and sound, a long plane ride, first at 9:00 PM to Las Vegas and then at 12:00 to home. I did play the slots at the airport and won about 50.00 with a 20 so reall won 30.00 then I left. Well am all settled in at home, except have not unpacked the suitcase, done any of the laundry or done any art. I am going done to the studio tonight I am itching to do some art. The picture above is of the first mission in scottsdale, it was in the process of being redone. Love the design and the colour which is white, I like clean bright colours.....Hubby was glad for us to be home,for some home cooking, I dont know what he survived on while we were gone but no cooking was done at our house. Well gotta go, I might post later on....

I love Arizona

I love Arizonia, the weather is perfect. If only I could bottle this weather up and take it home. Hubby said today on his way home from work it was snowing, not a great way to arrive home. We leave this great state tommorow night at about 9:00 and spend 2 hours layover in Vegas, not to much time to get into trouble. Maybe they have slots in the airport. I have been to Vegas a few times, but I cant remember about the slots in the airport. We have been all over today, taking new freeways and actually ending up where we want to be....totatly amazing that two hicks from Canada can travel these freeways. My daughter and i had a great time on our holiday. We bonded well, not to many years will she be living at home with us and then her own family, so this was good, hubby couldnt come. He would not have enjoyed himself anyway way to much shopping for him. Today we went downtown scottsdale, old scottsdale, it was great got lots of snaps , so this will be my last post, will post again on Wednesday with pictures from the trip......Thanks for reading the adventures of Thelma and Louise hopefully to be continued for a couple more years together.....

It reached 94 degrees here today......

Yep it was sure hot here today, hubby said there was snow at home. I am thinking Phoenix is the place for me, sunny blue skies, and warm weather. We had a busy day today we relaxed by the pool, and then it was off to see Scottsdale, that is the place I want to live, it is a suburb of Phoenix, and that's where the money is and all the golf courses. Tonight we are off to see the new Adam Sadler movie can hardly wait I really want to see it. Only two more days here and then it is back to the real world of work and home cooking. Well must go the movie awaits. talk to you all soon, (maybe tomorrow) it is suppose to be just as warm or warmer.

We went to Sedona yestereday, it took 2.5 hours to get there, but it was worth it.

Things I know about Sedona:
1. You drive through the mountains, and you see the soil change to red
2. It is a big tourist community - Just like Banff in Alberta big on souvenirs
3. Just like Banff, little or no parking for the tourists.
4. It has great art gallery's
5. The drive there is amazing , just like banff, just not through the Rockies, but through these amazing mountains,
6. The people are great, really friendly and helpful

We are having a great time here in Arizona, this is the place to retire, if not just for the weather, apparently this is there spring, in Alberta we call this summer....
Well we are relaxing by the pool today and then its off for more exploring and we are catching a movie tonight. On the way home from Sedona we stopped and had a spa treatmentwe each had a pedicure and back massage, very relaxing after a hard day of sight seeing.... As you can see we are having a great time. Thelma and Louise the journey continues...

Hi from Phoenix day two and still cant find Brad Pitt.
If you don't know the story of the movie Thelma and Louise picked up Brad Pitt on the road and had their way with him. Sorry to say I cant find my Brad Pitt..

1. Today was a busy day 10:00 hit the freeway and did not get home until 10:00 tonight. Needless to say I am tired, Louise (Lyndsey) I am sure could go all night.
2. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory - (not to be confused with the Cheesecake Restaurant in my home town) it does not compare. This was a fabulous restaurant the portions were huge and the service was great. Plus the place was jam packed.
3. Tomorrow we are off to Se dona for the day. I am looking forward to this little side trip, it is suppose to be beautiful, serene and lots of ops to take pictures.
4. My navigator is doing a spectacular job, I wanted to get GPS at the airport, but she is just as good as GPS.
5. Well should go , stay tuned to day three the Sedona adventure, and maybe another Brad Pitt.

I am a travelling gal.....

1. Made it to Phoneix, US Airways, no problems, no lost luggage, no delay on time
2. Rented the car no problems
3. Found the hotel with little difficulty, my little navigator (Lyndsey) did a great job and we were all over all day long.
4. Got to the hotel around 4:00 and were assigned our room. Problem, didnt like it, looks out on to a busy road, all the rest of the rooms look out onto the pool. Otherwise the hotel is really nice , clean, bright, modern. I talked to the guy at the desk said we are staying 6 nights and really would like a room with a view. He could not have been nicer and we are moving tommorow.
5. Lyndsey already found a deal at Last Chance (Neman Marcus outlet) a juicy bag that was a thousand a home (not kidding about this price) and 40 here of course we bought it. Almost saw a fight between two ladies fighting over the same purse they grabbed it out of each other hands. We will be back the deals are great, I did not buy anything but the week is young.

The Tale of the Fair Maiden....

1. Just a little art I created last night in the studio along with a story.
2. Hubby did all the taxes tonight, mine, his, my mother and my daughter and I am
happy to report we all get money back. The only reason, hubby and I do, is because we overpay our taxes all year long just so we don't have pay. I just don't know what Iam going to do with mine. We need new furniture in our den, so that might be it.
3. Well all the details for the trip are now planned . We leave at 6:55 am on thursday morning, so we live a far distance from the airport, plus you need to be there 2 hours early, so we are leaving at 4:30 am on Thursday morning. Will i even be awake to see Phoneix.
4. Just finished watching dancing with the stars, I actually enjoyed it.
5. Well going to go to bed early I hate Monday's, talk to you tommorow.

Two Posts in one night...what's got into her...

1. Cleaned the studio when we got home from dinner, did not put the shelf up. But was able to do some fooling around and here is one of them.
2. I took artistic licesne and made my self skinny.

Only 4 more sleeps till the trip....

1. The weather has been beautiful really spring like yesterday and today. I was out cleaning out the car, vacuming, washing the windows, and trying to take it to the carwash but the line up was about a mile long. Thats what happens when it is nice weather in Canada, the first place you want to go is the carwash, though I have washed it a few times over the winter.
2. We have had a problem with our sump pump but mr. fix it surpised me and fixed it. This is not exactly his area of expertise, ask him a labour problem and he is your guy. But once in a way we are surprised by him.
3. We are all going out for supper with my Mom tonight, so no cooking in this house, just put the oven to clean anyway..
4. I know this is riveting stuff how can you not keep on reading.
5. The picture is of Sedona Arizona, and I plan on visiting Sedona. It is a very artsy beautiful place in Arizonia that I have always wanted to visit.
6. Tonight I am going to put together my shelf, so I can get the studio back in working order. I have been sketcing in my sketch book so have been doing some art.

1. Today I was thinking alot about how people perceive me, do they see me or just the outside shell. Do they want to really see me and that means just getting past the surface stuff.
2. Today was a bad day at the office as one of the workers was electrocuted last night in worked in the same building as me for about 4 years so everybody knows who he is. So today was a day spent remembering him.
3. Working on the trip, got the plane tickets, made the hotel reservations and renting the car, now just need to get some American money and we are all set. Everything but the suitcases now that is another story.
4. How do I explain the picture just a doddle in the sketchbook not even a great doddle but just some random thoughts on paper maybe to use in a peice maybe not.

Going on a Trip...

Yep next Thursday the 29 I am going on a trip for 5 days to Phoneix, kind of a spur of the moment thing. Just a mother daughter trip. Shopping, resting in the sun, and just seeing the sights. Can hardly wait. The weekend was great, had a great birthday. Not much art created in the studio this weekend so gotta get busy, but it is in turmoil down there, I have moved everything to set up the new cabinet that I got for my birthday. I just cant create in a mess, but I can make a mess....lol.

happy St. Patricks day to you and yours...

Well i woke up today didn't feel any different, not older that for sure. Yep you guessed it its my birthday, and I am not even irish. So I did this in honour of my birthday. Next year is the last year for celebrating birthdays, from then on I stay the same age 29 and not counting....lol. Today I plan on doing me things, I having lunch with my mom, going out hubby and friends for dinner. Hubby bought me a new cabinet that I wanted for the studio, all he has to do is put it together. Well I am off talk to all later and drink some green beer....

How many of these do you think I will get done today........ This morning I got up bright and early and went to work. What a mess, I could not sit at my desk because of the dirt and the smell of musty carpet. They are suppose to be coming in tonight to re clean the carpet, sanitize my carpet and my desk. Even after all that water, my computer still worked, that is totally amazing to me.Basically today was just a wasted day, none of my computer programs that I used were on the other computer, so I did what I could not much....Well I was hoping Heroes was on tonight but don't see it in the paper so I guess maybe I should start on one of those items that I want to accomplish tonight. pretty woman...sketch

still doing that sketch a day, trying to get better each day, the eyes need some work. Well not much has happened this weekend. On Friday all was fine at my desk, still a little wet but managed. Went out for the lunch with all the women who work with me. Back after lunch we walk into a diaster zone. Our whole area is marked off with tape. A pipe in my office had exploded and water up over your ankle. Plus it had come out of the pipe so hard it blew the cement cap off which would have hit me if I had been there, They would not let us in to see the mess so Monday we will see it. We all got the afternoon off.... Other than that not much is new.....I finally got enough nerve to apply to the University to enter there fine arts program, and I have to supply my marks (high school) 35 years ago, different province. I emailed my old high school in Vancouver, and they emailed me back how to get them. So gotto do that now to get them.
Well talk to you tommorow we are all going in at 6:30 am to see what we can do at work....

Studio Friday-Most precious item in my studio,..

This is the most precious thing in my studio. This clock means a lot to me. It was my sisters and sat in her office. My sister passed away suddenly and one of the items from her office was this clock, which my brother inlaw gave to me as a keepsake. I keep it on my studio desk and look at and remember my sister. But really I like to think that she has given me the gift of time, which is so precious. Time to live my life, time to discover who I am, time to be with my family. The time to work on my art, she knew how much I loved art and always was so supportive. So I take good care of this gift and will pass it on to my daughter when the time is right.

I am in the gallery....

Tonight I went to the Art Gallery and saw the free for all show. It was totally amazing, 2000 pieces of art from ordianry people or should I say artisits. My daughter took this picture of me and my art peice for me to remember after all how many times in your life can one say I had a peice of art in the art gallery. Haha Well today was one of those crazy days at work, a flood at my desk (walked in this morning and water all over the floor from the roof that is melting, and they cant find the hole, so lots of garbage cans all over trying to catch the drips. Hopefully I dont have to swim in there tommorow. Well enough for now gotta run everybody have a great Friday and hopefully I will talk to you tommorow.

Inspriations Thursday..Art and Architecture

I love triangles, the pyramids were trangles, our city hall is traiangle, our gardens are triangles. These structures are all glass and steel and I felt they should be all about colour, stanined glass colour, bright colours, life colours.

African Art

Hi, been working in my studio tonight, I had this postcard I saved from the mail from ages ago, and i decided to try to use it in a different way. I painted it, made a border,words and here it is. I actually think it turned out pretty good. I have been busy at work, and at home, and trying to squeeze in time in the studio. It is hard to juggle a job, a house, family and an art interest. But I quess until I win the Lotto that's what I will be doing. Now if I won the lotto, i would get my own studio out of the house and have no distractions around. Well its a short post tonight as I have to go watch my favourite shfow HOUSE and its on. So talk to you all soon./

Inspiration Thursday. Home

I thought long and hard about Inspriation Thursday theme Home. I came up with this, I bought this at junk sale, it in its former life was a grain house, I painted it, sanded and came up with this. I love my home, because to me it is a safe haven full of love and warmth. A place to come home to and just be me....Plus its looks much better in real life. The scanner just doesnt cut it..

Bring the boys home...

I love this song it was originally done by Freda Payne, but re-recorded by Jan Arden. I bought her new CD today and listened to it on the way home. I immediately knew what I wanted to do, this is my grandfather, and I had a blast making this. I crashed a paper bag, inked it, inked the paper found some images and there it is....I just finished watching Jericho. Well March is birthday month and I will be an unnamed number and I have been thinking long and hard if I want to retire from my job this year or next. At this moment it is today but then sanity returns and I think okay just 12 more months and I am a free agent, able to rise when I want, do what I want..I can do that is what I keep telling myself. Next year I will have been there 35 years ...I know what is wrong with this girl, was there no other jobs out there for me. Well as it happened I loved my job and actually still do. I am the boss, and I love that part of it.....well thats enough philospy for one night ....talk to you tommorow...

Adore Me....

I was down in the studio tonight just doing some painting techniques practising, colours. I used an old coaster from a restaurant and painted on it, it took the paint really well and this is what I came up with, I am also practising my printing skills. Today was not productive day for me in the studio or at work. It was a blah day, a day where really you should have just stayed home and slept in. Hopefully I will be feeling more like my oldself tommorow. Today I feel like i should pack in this blog, as really not to much interesting stuff happens in my life. So right now I am signing off for today...hopefully tommorow will be better...

Grandpa goes to War

This is a picture of my Grandpa (in the middle) going off to war, notice the price of the paper in the background 3 cents. I have been going through some old black and white pictures of my mothers and scanning them in hopes of making some projects out of them. My other grandfather was a chauffer ( i have a picture of that as well) i am going to post tommorow night. I have not been creating to much in the studio just really going down and playing around with my paint and paper making a few cards, throwing them away trying to get the creative mojo working, but its seems to be sadly lacking lately. Must be a blue period I am going through trying to sort out my life. In my goals for 2007 one of them was to take a course. Well I have been mulling that over lately and thinking about taking a University Certificate program in fine arts. What is holding me back, well a number of things:
1. I would be the oldest in the class
2. What if my art is lacking (I mean really lacking in talent)
3. I dont know If i have the nerve to do it....
Well I quess that something for me to start really thinking about. But on the brighter side we have a great art gallery in the city where I live. And at the end of march they are tearing it down to build another. So for the month of mARCH THEY ARE having an anybody art show. Today and tommorow you have the oppournity to bring your art down to the gallery and they will hang it for three weeks. Now when will you ever get to say I had my art hanging at the Alberta Art Gallery...I did not go today, but I am going to go tommorow. I am going to show my shoe project. I will take a picture tommorow of it and post it....Well enough of this for one night, I hope you are all having a great weekend.

I am working at a snails pace today....

Haven't had much time to post as work as been quite busy.....I dont know why I was thinking about a snail (just a glimpse into this mind of mine) but thought I would make a great weight loss card. So here it is....I have been in the studio a little, trying to work on some paint techniques, trying to get it right so I can create layout with it. Well gotta go make my lunch talk to you hopefully longer tommorow night.

Inspire me Thursday....

Ever give up on a piece of art that just did not turn out as expected? Sometimes there’s no choice but to throw it away, but other times we might hold on to it with hope that someday we might get inspired to finish it. Your challenge this week is to search your studio for those abandoned pieces of art that are beckoning you to finish them! It might be fun to show a before and after photo of the piece of art.

I made this piece last year and struggled to finish it, after awhile I just decided it was finished. But its not finished , I look at and think its need moreof something. So its sat and sat on my workbench in my studio since completion. I just don't know what to do with it, I have thrown it in the garbage a few times, only for my daughter to fish it back out and say its to good for the garbage. So I am totally open for suggestions on how to make this piece speak to me...

Friends Since 6th grade....

It's my friends birthday this month, and I wanted to do something special for her. I decided to paint a picture on canvas an get it framed. Now I know when you look at you are probably thinking its since childlike, and I hope you think that because I painted it to look like that. I thought long and hard on this one and fished it out of the garbage a few times. You are the first to see it, I still have not decided fully that I am going to give it to her. As you can see we have been friends forever, we both grew up on an airforce base and that is where our friendship developed and we have remained close friends ever since. Diane doesnt look at the computer so she doesnt look at my blog so its okay to post the picture here. She has had many health problems and manages to cope with them daily and still has time to smile. I value our friendship and cherish everyday that I am with her. Well we are having a long weekend in Alberta, as Monday is family day, and I dont have to work. I am going to clean up the studio and work on some cards. Well must go talk to you tommorow.

A Snails Life in the fast lane....

Well hello!!!! I havent posted in a few days, been busy creating in the studio, sketching ideas, and trying out new techniques. Here is a peak at something I am working on at present, its just a quick sketch...more to come later. It feels like spring here today after the deep freeze we have been in, so its made me quite happy. I lost a pound and that made me happy. Other than that nothing new around here. I read other people blogs and they have these important things to say and then I reread mine and think why would anyone read this ...but I do have a few family members who read it. Speaking of family, we are off to dinner at the mother in laws to meet up with our niece and newphew (2 parts of triplets the third could not come) they went to ski in the mountains and are on there way home, I think with 6 friends, so should be quite the night, full of laughter and fun, and Ian and Linda if your reading this I will post some photos. (Linda and Ian are in Guyana at present ministering...Well hopefullyyou will see some art work tomorrow, once I know what Inspire me Thursday is about...

2 days till Valentine's

Am I big on valentines day, no I am not. We might go out for dinner, buy each other a card with lotto tickets, but thats about it. This year hubby is away on business. This is my card for my weight loss challenge, this is my favourite choclate bar ( only 100 calories, when I feel like something sweet), I usually have some in my fridge. Well today was freezing here and snowing, same tommorow, its not suppose to warm up until Thursday. Well must go and make my lunch...talk to you tommorow....

Strangers at the Mall

A while ago while shopping at the mall, I got tired and decided to sit down have a diet coke and do what I like to do best People watch. While sitting there a woman approached me and asked if she could sit with me. Now my daughter always accuses me of being way to friendly to strangers, but that is just me. The lady and I just started talking, it started about how busy the mall was and went on from there. The lady wanted to talk to somebody (a stranger) she was wearing a turbine on her head and expalined why that she had just recently go through a bout of chemo and had lost her hair. From there on we discussed our lives, what we did and what we dreamed and what we wanted with our lives. A fairly heavy topic to do with a stranger, but I felt the need of her to talk. We talked about things we wanted to accomplish in our lives, and she told me 10 things she wanted to accomplish in 2007, she wasnt looking any further than that. I felt a connection with this stranger and we parted, we did not even tell each other our names, but we connected. Isnt that the way with some people you meet in your life just a instant connection. I didnt forget this woman and wanted to do this layout as part of my women series. This is from my memory she looked much better in person....Just wanted to share....

The Girlfriends....

Found this card today well browsing through the card section at Walmart, it just made me smile so I bought It. I love cards...Well this weekend has flown by as usual, but It was great. I went did some accessorie shopping today for my house. I bought some new lamps for the family rooms. New cushions for the living room. Some small desk items for me to redo in the studio, on sale for 2.00 each and really cute. But no art, I did work on my Lab 555 book with some new ideas, things that I want to to try, paint techniques etc, but not much else. I am going to spend the afternoon in the studio working tommorow, so may be tommorow night I will have something to post. Watched the DVD Flags of the Fathers, I thought I was long and the last part dragged on, but really not a bad movie. Well must hit the road and hopefully talk to you all tommorow.

Moving On....

No I am not moving...I am moving on, I have not been good on my diet lately, and I am getting over it, and moving on, I will lose weight, I am back on program as of today. You just have to let it go and say alright I cheated and get right back on the horse. So that is what I am doing. Well no studio tonight I had some major cleaning up to do around here, so its all done so I dont have to do it on the weekend. So the weekend is free for me.....I love this picture (even if I must say so myself) doesnt everyone woman has something that she wants to wear and it just doesnt look right on her and she says oh just a few more pounds. Well mine is jeans, designer jeans, expensive jeans. Oprahs skinny jeans....So there you have it my secret wish to fit in skinny designer jeans, one pound at time....

Pretty Boys

Tonight I just went down to the studio and played. I have a few ideas kicking around and I wanted to play around with them. This is one of them, Pretty Boys is going to be a piece, so I did a rough sketch and wrote down a few ideas. That's the way I have to do things, I envy people that can get an idea and just create it, I do not work like that. I have to actually sketch out the idea with the message. I also worked on another card, which you will see tommorow night. I just went and the flow happened, you got to go when that happens. Well tonight my favourite show is on Heroes so this will not be a long drawn out blog. Just had a great day and a great night and wanted to share, hope you all had a great weekend, and I will talk to you on Tuesday....

Inspire me Thursday- Only 2 days late

Inspire me Thursday was to create a portrait using any medium we wished. So here is mine, I used paint, some magazine words, drawings etc. This is me, not really what I look like but an abstract part of me. I enjoyed making it, I actually made it a while ago, as part of an ongoing art journal on women. Thanks for looking

An apple a day....

Happy February 1. Here is my week 5, I drew the apple, painted it with acrylics, and use graphite for the edges, and my trusty sharpie for the writing. I did not get to the meeting tonight..I know there should be no excuse, but I was at a work retreat all day from 7:00 to 4:00 and I had enough of listening to talking. I came home and had a little nap, and a little peace and quiet. I enjoyed the retreat but sometimes it is just easier to go to work. Well my mom got home safe and sound from her trip and she enjoyed herself. She came back to cold weather, gosh I wish it was april. I have been thinking quite a bit about my art, I am having a bit of a creative block, it is bothering me, nothing turns out the way I see it, I am sure it will pass and something will inspire me. Lab 555 has inspired me, and gottomakesomething has also inspired me. Well I am going to bed early because I was exhausted this morning. Talk to you on Friday...

Lets Get Physical.....

I know its not Thursday, but decided to upload my image today, I will fill it in on Thursday. I used paper for the skirt, drawn the legs and the shoes, used art felts and paint. I think that's all it needs. Sometimes I have a hard time knowing when to quit putting stuff on, and then it ends up looking like crap, and I do not use it. My motto should be less is enough. Had a great weekend did not do to much, alot of flu over at my house, both the hubby and the daughter two weeks ago both had bad colds, now they have it again, only worse. I am taking the daughter to the Dr. tomorrow. The hubby well you know men, I am OK no need for the doctor for me. I of course am in perfect condition, what would happen if I got sick, who would look after them (of course me who else, isn't that a mother duty in life, Ha Ha,) Well I did some art in the studio, tried some new techniques (with paints) I will scan it tomorrow and show you, I got the idea from the Somerset Studio Magazines. I also found the coolest website called gomakesomething.com. I don't know how to link, if anybody out there does, could they email me and tell me how. Anyway if your interested in creating stuff this is the place to go, each Monday they have a Monday challenge and they show you how to make the project, totally cool. Well I wanted to post early, because I want to go down to the studio and "gomakesmothing".

Studio Friday-Artists

This weeks studio friday was just up my alley, I want you to meet Audrey Kawasaki. I love her work, she works in a light color pallet. Her paintings seem to float in a soft light. Her subjects are women. I found her by also surfing the web one day looking for inspiration. I could only pray to have a talent that awesome. Today was a sad day for my family. It was on this day a year ago my sister passed away. I spent today quietly remembering all the things that I loved about her. The way she would phone me and we would just would joke around and laugh and laugh. The way she was always worried about us, my sister and I always called her mother. She was meant to have a dozen kids, but only had one, and he was the love of her life as well as her husband. They did everything together. Vicki and I will always miss her, she was our sister....

I am back Just Popping Along

Yep, got the computer fixed, just spent 4 hours trying to get everything back on and get into blogger, since all is ok with the world now. Yes if you notice I gained 2 lbs how i DONT KNOW, but it will be off next week. I have missed blogging only been away a couple of days, but felt like weeks, though nothing earth shattering has happened in my life since I last blogged. I somehow feel conneted knowing some people read my blog. Well I feel like I have done a full days work getting this computer set up. Well will talk tommorow for sure.....

Computer going to the hospital....

My computer has been giving me some trouble. Its very slow in starting and sometimes wont do what you want it to. I am taking in tomorrow to my guy (a computer guy) to get a complete clean up and reload. Hopefully will have it back by Friday. If all else fails I will post from work. Well its been a great couple of days here in the North, its going to plus 12 Celsius and its still January. God are we having crazy weather or what. Hurricane winds in Europe snow in Arizona. Finished up a couple of layouts last night for my 52 week weight loss. I am going to post then on Friday I dont have to post them every week, I am going to post them as I do them. Well tommorow night I off with the girls for a night out. We are going to this Italian restaurant Its all about Garlic, should be inter sting and fun. I have alot of fun with these friends of mine. Well I am all out of news, that would not put you to sleep. So hopefully will talk to you on Friday.....

Pretty Hot Chick even at age 6....

Didnt really have any good images to post today, but wanted a picture up, so here I am age 6. Well this weekend again has flown by, last night all I did was watch NIP and TUCK season 1, my daughter got it for me for christmas, play on the internet and that was it. Today we had the family clean up, thats when we all clean up one area of the house, today it was the kitchen, we cleaned the cupboards washed them down, reorgaznied, etc. Goes by pretty fast with three people helping. Other than that went shopping for some new clothes and that was my day in a nutshell. Didint go to the big mall, I cant take that place on the weekend, its a mad house. I did get some time in the studio and I created the card for week 3, pretty good even if I must say so . Going down tommorow to do something else, hope to show it on my blog tommorow night, if it turns out, not all my art projects turn out, some go straight to the garbage. Well talk to you tommorow night...

Cant load an image today....

Don't know why I cant load an image today but will post anyway and try to get an image up later. Well how are you all.....I had a great day today, went out with my friend to Costco and Lunch. Everyday is out of the house tonight, hubby at a hockey game, and the daughter at work, and what am I doing cleaning the fridge and hanging around on the intenet now how exciting is that. I love Costco, I don't have a card, but my friend does ,I go with her when ever I want anything. The sizes of everything are way to big for this family, now if I had boys like she does, its another story. Last night I cleaned the studio and threw out stuff I thought I would use one day and that day never comes, it just takes up space and this is the year I am make space in my life....the studio looks and feels 100% better, tomorrow I am going to hang up some of my art,I dont have anything hung up in there of mine, but I will starting tommorow, another big step. I have been thinking about my life lately it must be my age and all the things I have done, and all the things I want to do and accomplish and I made a list and this is the year that some of those things get taken of the list. Well hopefully tommorow I have something that is a tad more interesting than me....Talk to you then.

Drowning in a river of water. week 2 of the journey

Well I lost 5.2 lbs and I am thrilled, how did I do it, well certanily not eating my favourite foods. But I did and I am trying, so drink a bottle of diet coke for me. Well I have been busily doing not much in the studio but making a real big mess, but I did manage to create this. Hubby just got home from the Hockey Game and the daughter just got home from work, so it's a busy house around here tonight. Well not much news tonight except the big loss so I am pyched. Well I talk to you tommorow I got to think of my Studio Friday entry......

Facing the Scale week One

Here is week 1 of my goal to lose weight, each week I will post one of these oversized cards that I am making. Well not much has happened around here since last I talked. I joined a new online group they are going to make art once a week, and post, its called Lab555. I am excited about it since the beginning of this year my mojo seems to be off, where is my energy to create. So here is hoping this is the kickstart I need. The diet has been going great no cheating, taking my lunch faithfully, since I am dieting the whole family gets to as well, no junk in this house....Well talk to you tommorow.

Just 5 minutes....

Another 5 minute sketch,you only get better with practise. Well had a great weekend. My mother went on Saturday on a two week trip to visit my sister. The weather there is really cold. and here it is warming up. Went to friends for dinner on Saturday and saw Little Miss Sunshine on DVD, I totally loved that movie, really kind of a screwed up family, but they all love each other. Did some art on Sunday night, I am creating a little book made out of over sized playing cards, to document my weight journey, I am going to do one tonight for week 1. I will post it tommorow to show....I know you all can hardly wait for it. My husband is watching Nancy Grace at this moment on CNN I cannot tolerate that woman....she grates on my nerves. I am thinking about going to an art weekend in Vancouver in March. I think I would like it very much, and how lucky am I that I have my brother inlaw who lives there, actually quite close to the place where the course is being held. I am still pondering it....Well should hit the road, its all about ironing on Monday nights and then its done for the week.,...So I will talk to you all on Tuesday.....

Studio Friday: Travels

Travels

I have traveled many places in my life, and hope to travel many more. I have traveled just about all over Canada and the USA. I have been to Europe and found my favorite place on earth to be Italy. From its majestic hilltop villages to its breathtaking beauty of its beaches. My favorite city has to be hands down Venice. We stayed in a hotel right on the canal, in our room we able to see the boats traveling up and down the canal doing there daily business. The water buses, the Italians going to work, we even saw a funeral, with all the mourners in there own boats following the casket. we heard and saw amazing sights and sounds. The smell of the city was something not to be forgotten (no not the canal), cooking , oils, people all mixed together in those tight little alleyways they call streets. The colors' and history could boggle your mind. The ride on the canal at night on a Gondola, hearing the quiet looking into lives' of people as you passed by their house truly amazing. Nothing there was new, it was all old and full of history, I could have stayed there for months and still not taken everything. I hope one day to go back there with my sketchbook and my digital camera and record these amazing sights.

I know what the heck is she talking about. I am sure that like a song or somethingI am doing 5 minutes sketch excersies in my sketch book, no erarsing, no starting over, nothing, just sketching, this is a sample. I am in a creative block right now, tonight I tried a few things, and threw them all out. I had to have something to post so went to my purse sketchbook and chose this one. I know needs work but hey it was 5 minutes worth of work...Well didnt get to ww tonight, went to the Doc after work and it was to late by the time I got home. So i am going tommorow night, that is my commitmment you are all witnnesses. The weather stinks, it snowing, blowing, and really cold -30 below. I was going to shovel as the hubby is away but way to cold to do that today...Well must go and think about what's for lunch ....

A page a month;....

Going to do a page a month, kinda remembering the month. What exciting events took place. The first month really is not quite in the format that I want but February will be. Tonight we are expecting a blizzard, we have not had this kind of weather in years. Just last week it was beautiful here, not sweater weather but nice for here in the chilly north. Hubby is going out of town to a conference, but they are taking a bus, the road they are going on is bad at the best of times. The daughter was suppose to be going away on the weekend but the weather is to bad to be driving with teenage girls. I heard this song on the radio by Jan Arden a Canadian singer, really great. The song is Bring the boys home, it was orginially a song from the 70's which she redid, I love it. It is inspiring me to do a page on it, so stay tuned for that.....Well gotta make lunch. I start number one of the goals tommorow. I joined WW and am going after work.....I will keep you informed of my progress. My weight is between me and the scale.....

When love was really love for a lifetime.....

This is a picture of my Mom and Dad when they were dating, I think my Mom said she was 17 and he was the same age but almost 18. They truly had a love match, they knew each other most of there lives, he lived down the street, they had the same friends, and so the story goes, they met and fell in love. My dad died when he was 55, and my mother never remarried and she will be 79 this year, if I have heard it once I have heard it a thousand times, when you have had the best you dont want anything else.....A little bit of my family triva for you today. I just came up from working on an art piece and it looks like crap, so its going to be repainted and will not be seen on my blog..... Well the weekend went by fast and furious and here it is Sunday already, another exciting week ahead....Well thats it for this Sunday, hope you all had a great weekend and talk to you tommorow.

Studio Friday....Changing Names

had been thinking about this Challenge for a couple of days. I talked to my mother about it, and she in turn related a story to me I had long forgotten.In about grade one, the first day of school I told my teacher that they had got my name mixed up, my name was Patsy not Lee, (Patrica was my middle name). Hence the class began to call me Patsy…until meet the teacher. In comes my mother , the teacher asks whose mother are you, well I am Lee's mother. The teacher then says oh you mean Patsy….needless to say I was Lee from then on. As a child and a teen I always disliked my name for many reasons, first I thought it was a boy's name, second it was to easy to remember the teachers always knew my name immediately. And last I wanted some exotic artsy name like Natasha, or Victoria not plain Lee.. Now as an adult I cant imagine being any one else. My name goes with me, and its so easy to say, unlike my married last name which nobody can spell or pronounce. I think my mother could have been a little more daring and at least spelled my name Leigh. But on the other hand she named my other Sister Delta, now that's another story…..

Spring has Sprung on the Blog...

Yep felt like spring in the studio, wanted to try some watercolours not great with them yet, the flowers need some work but I tried and its out there. Today it felt the spring here, above zero great weather for the past two weeks, I hear we are in for a cold spell. Hubby got home safe and sound late last night. Waiting...

I have been thinking about doing this layout for quite awhile. When I go to my Mothers building (a seniors residence) there are always the same people sitting my the window,each time. I notice them when I come, when I go just waiting. My mother says nobody comes to visit them. Now of course some may not have children, etc. But somewhere in their life they must have known someone who could have visited. Do we have such busy lives that we cannot spare 30 minutes for someone else. Just a thought and a layout. Did not do to much today other than go to work, play around with my layout and that's it. No exciting life here, talk to you soon......

New Years Day and counting....

This is the fireworks we had last night at 12;00, I know just about as exciting as watching the ball drop in Time Square in New York (just kidding)) love watching that ball drop. Today the first day of January was the day I hang around in my PJ's and really dont do to much. Which I did, just kinda slept in, cleaned the studio (have to do that for 2007), thought about some art projects, chatted with the hubby, totally watched the sci fi network (Farscape the Peacekeepers) I really do like those shows, watched Last Kiss DVD. Hubby went out of town on business for a couple of days, will miss him, but love not having do anything for anyone, the daughter pretty much looks after herself. But alas its back to work tommorow, but it a fresh year, new possibilities and I am totaly open to tackle anything. So until tommorow hope you did what you wanted to today.....
