vacation planss?

 

this is a collage I made, first came the papers, then the face and words.  That's

why her face has paint on it, the paper did.  I have been busy at art work, trying

to get some things caught up.  The circle journal, the last person, who is my

friend Gail who lives in this city, I have her book, and finally finished her

pages, now I am done with the swap.  I am in on a swap at La Wendas  , http://paper-swap.blogspot.de/

so I have been busy getting that ready, and I have a box of unfinished projects that

I vow I am going to finish.  I have decided I am taking a brief vacation from the

blog, starting tomorrow and returning August 11, or when the muse strikes me.

It seems I cant stay away from the blog?  Its a love hate realationship (lol)



Alone on a hill......

do you have a place where you go to be alone, to think, to plan, to just be.

I think every woman needs a place like that.  I have a couple, I go swimming for

two reasons, one to ensure that my body lasts until 100....and the other

because I find it so relaxing, that's when  I have an a couple hours to myself.

When I am swimming so many things go through my head, my art, I plan

things I want to do, I work out problems I am having, I think about anything

you can think of.  I then sit in the hot tub for 15 minutes and soak out

any aches and pains I have.  I think that is why I am so dedicated to

go 5 days a week, that time is just for me.  I don't have to answer the phone, talk

to anyone, do housework, or just be lazy and not feel bad about it.  (lol)

I thought I would show you the kitchen before the make over.

 

I know looks old fashioned, cant do to much about the

cupboards, as we have a lot of oak in our house, but I can get new knobs

for them,

so:

new countertops

new tiles

new undermount sink and taps

new kitchen stools for the island

of course new island countertop

new light over the table

and maybe a new kitchen table and chairs

new knobs for the cabineets

gonna take a couple of months so when its done I will show you the after pictures.

 

 



A whole lot of shopping....

 

 today was all about

looking at granite, coran, and quartz's countertops,

getting new ones for the kitchen/ bathrooms, and laundry room, cant decide

what to go with, do you have any of the above do you like them?

new kitchen tiles

new under mount sinks in bathrooms, laundry and kitchen

new faucets, a complete redo of the kitchen.  We have oak cabinets, nice wood

but its dated now, its all about dark woods, then light woods come back.  I

cant afford new cabinets, so we are updating around them.  Should be nice....the looking continues.....

were having a heat wave

 

Yes we are having a heat wave, and I am not complaining our winter is so cold and long, the heat is nice.  The shopper is on her road trip and just left Vegas

and said it was so hot there, duh Vegas in the summer.....

The pool where I usually swim closed for repairs in June, and I had

to go to a new pool for a few months, now that pool is closed,

till further notice Mechanical Failure, so no swimming for awhile.

Been doing a lot of reading of art books so far this summer.  Been working on small art projects, the bird series, and making stamps.read Julie Baltzers books Stamp, Carve Play, its really good, great ideas about stamping and stuff.

The month not much new art will be on the blog, but lots of really old stuff you might not have seen, maybe some tuts, and some great sites I have found, and some good youtubes.  So stay tuned.

Monday Monday

 

I have been busy working on my bird series, trying different ideas.  Cant wait to show you, been really excited about working on it.  This is a painting that I did a while ago.  I have it in the studio in a frame, but have not put it up anyway, the scanner doesn't really do a good job showing it, but I love how it turned out.

The Bird.

 

as you know I have been quite dis-satisfied with my art

lately, I have been doing a series of bird sketches

from pictures off the internet.  Now most of my birds

are not realistic, but the series of sketches I am doing

I am trying to be more realistic.  I have done about

10 of them, I am going to paint them with acrylics,

but true to my style, they will be my color

pallet.  

A Change is good

 

are you sick of these girls of mine,

they are all starting to blend together to me

I think I might have to change it up, or

not draw them anymore.  Friday I am

off to the ART Walk we have once a year,

maybe I can get my mojo back and make

some art that sings to me.  Do you ever

think you are just making the same art over

and over again and not challenging yourself?

Today is all about

taking the car in for warranty check

driving with open windows, and playing summer tunes

swimming

going for lunch with a art friend

going to the museum to see embroidery exhibition

enjoying the beautiful hot weather

bbqing dinner

trying to paint fabric outside

The Dog days are over

 

I love making little collages you don't have to think to much,

and its not to much space to fill up.  Today I again

have to go to apple, with the shoppers IPAD, the last time

I went with mine, its was nothing, I was doing something

wrong, and I was out of there in 10 minutes.  Now that

I know what I was doing wrong, it runs like a top.  Lets

hope its like that with the shoppers IPAD.  They are

going on a long  road trip soon for their summer vacation, and she wants to take her

IPAD. Also a good cheap way to stay in touch.  What did we do

before we had all these gadget's, making everything so easy.



No Shaving required

 

I know I said I wasnt going to post until Monday, but here I am.

Have I got alot to say no, have I done a lot today no. We had a huge
thunderstorm last night, and lots thunder and lightning.  I love
those kinda storms, the devil dog apparently did not, he stuck
to the hubster like glue, apparently he thinks the hubster
is better protraction than I am. Today I have some items to return, I need to go to the library and get some book tapes, I need to go and get my chin threaded, before
they ask me if I need a shave.  Ok gonna go and get going, talk to you tommorow

Misc Friday

 

This page started as something else, which did not work out, so I collaged over it and started again, and just left the collage. Her pink head is because I had red

crayon on my hand, and touched her forehead with it, its only in

my sketchbook so It really didn't bother me.

Today I had lunch with a friend that is visiting from out of town, and not much else.  And the days of lazing around are few, since the hubster is home, when he

is working, apparently I also have to be working, he needs a job (ha ha).

Today was great and we bbq salmon, I don't like salmon, the hubster ate it, I

had something else.  Ok I wasn't going to post today but here I am, I wont

be back until Monday, talk to you then.

This is a little mixed media piece I did for the challenge from

you use the colors that are specified and the challenge this month

was boats.  So this is my take on it.  I used painted (gelli) on parchment paper,

and just markers, didn't break out the paints, I was going to , but I

was doing it on my lap well watching tv.  So this is it.  Hop over and

see all the great art, or give it a try yourself.



Summer in the city

Its not really summer for me until July hits.

Now I am in the summery mood, not only

because todays weather is spectacular,

that its bare feet, shorts and short sleeve.  Its

just the feel, all the kids  are on summer

vacation , its less busy on the roads, its just

summer in the city. We are so far north

that our nights don't get dark till around 10:30 to

quarter to 11.  You can sit on your deck,

and just enjoy, visit, paint, read, or just

chill with your family.  As you can

see I am a fan of summer.  What is your

favourite summer activity?

Unlike our US neighbours, we celebrate July 1, its Canada Day,

its a day we celebrate being Canadian, everyone has there

flags out and its a holiday for all.  But of course everyday

is like a holiday when you are retired.  Ok this is short

and sweet because I am going to celebrate, were having

a bbq and the works, were letting go today ....
