Sweating the small stuff

well today I was doing my wifely duty and doing

a little bit of clean up.  The hubster is very good

about keeping things clean. I am making

Chili for dinner, its cool, and windy today,

so the fall food comes out.  Didn't find

the right exercise shirt, but managed to spend

an hour at the gym, and I even sweated, so

I must have been working hard. So what did

you do today?

use were black, yellow red, and blue, I used markers that

turn into watercolours when you use water

Frida and La policía

 

 

Frida went home after church, and what did she find?

Diego playing house with the La policía  wife.

Frida promptly phoned La policía and reported a

burglary at Diego house, and sat down at her

easel and started to paint, and waited until for all hell broke loss.

Looking Back

 

This is an really early collage that I did,  I cant

remember how long ago.  I put in a journal

that I was working on, and came across it

today.  I love looking back at how I have

progressed, do you every do that?

I have 4 different collages which

are all going to be girls with

different hairstyles.these are

all 6x6.  What do you think should

I leave her face blank, or put one

in, now that I look at her and rethink it.

Painting, cooking and the sun

 

another bird in the series, everything is collaged

except the ground and the sky, the ground

I put on some molding paste and went

with the pan pastels for colour

the sky is paint, it looks to flat to me

so I am going to do some white paint circle things. And the

feet need to be black and I forgot to paint the beck

just got some rhubarb from the neighbour

going to make some rhubarb coffee cake

and muffins, do some on my series

its beautiful out hot sunny, and I might do the art on the deck

cant waste this beautiful weather.

The Bird Series

 

I am back, but will be hit and miss until September when things

get back to normal, and summer is over, September things

change fast where I live.

I thought I would show you one of the pieces I have

been working on in series, I have about 4 birds series

canvas, all collaged with my homemade paper, and the background

on this one is pan pastel.

I have a head series, with about 5 , one which I will show you

on Tuesday

and One series with is about 8x 11 its a mish mash

I found I like working this way.  I love collaging

though it takes a huge amount of time. Okay

I want honest opinions here, if you think it looks

amertarish I want you to say so, don't pretty it all up, to babyish tell me,

I am not quite finished with these yet.  I would like to know do

you think I should have painted the background on this one,

Okay I expect some feedback bad or good

I am putting on my big girl panties and waiting for it.

vacation planss?

 

this is a collage I made, first came the papers, then the face and words.  That's

why her face has paint on it, the paper did.  I have been busy at art work, trying

to get some things caught up.  The circle journal, the last person, who is my

friend Gail who lives in this city, I have her book, and finally finished her

pages, now I am done with the swap.  I am in on a swap at La Wendas  , http://paper-swap.blogspot.de/

so I have been busy getting that ready, and I have a box of unfinished projects that

I vow I am going to finish.  I have decided I am taking a brief vacation from the

blog, starting tomorrow and returning August 11, or when the muse strikes me.

It seems I cant stay away from the blog?  Its a love hate realationship (lol)

The Dog days are over

 

I love making little collages you don't have to think to much,

and its not to much space to fill up.  Today I again

have to go to apple, with the shoppers IPAD, the last time

I went with mine, its was nothing, I was doing something

wrong, and I was out of there in 10 minutes.  Now that

I know what I was doing wrong, it runs like a top.  Lets

hope its like that with the shoppers IPAD.  They are

going on a long  road trip soon for their summer vacation, and she wants to take her

IPAD. Also a good cheap way to stay in touch.  What did we do

before we had all these gadget's, making everything so easy.



Misc Friday

 

This page started as something else, which did not work out, so I collaged over it and started again, and just left the collage. Her pink head is because I had red

crayon on my hand, and touched her forehead with it, its only in

my sketchbook so It really didn't bother me.

Today I had lunch with a friend that is visiting from out of town, and not much else.  And the days of lazing around are few, since the hubster is home, when he

is working, apparently I also have to be working, he needs a job (ha ha).

Today was great and we bbq salmon, I don't like salmon, the hubster ate it, I

had something else.  Ok I wasn't going to post today but here I am, I wont

be back until Monday, talk to you then.

Summer in the city

Its not really summer for me until July hits.

Now I am in the summery mood, not only

because todays weather is spectacular,

that its bare feet, shorts and short sleeve.  Its

just the feel, all the kids  are on summer

vacation , its less busy on the roads, its just

summer in the city. We are so far north

that our nights don't get dark till around 10:30 to

quarter to 11.  You can sit on your deck,

and just enjoy, visit, paint, read, or just

chill with your family.  As you can

see I am a fan of summer.  What is your

favourite summer activity?

Unlike our US neighbours, we celebrate July 1, its Canada Day,

its a day we celebrate being Canadian, everyone has there

flags out and its a holiday for all.  But of course everyday

is like a holiday when you are retired.  Ok this is short

and sweet because I am going to celebrate, were having

a bbq and the works, were letting go today ....

Saturday .....whats new

 

There are a couple of advantages to posting into my 9th year
is that I have a lot of art you probably have never seen.  Because
as bloggers we easily tire of a blog and maybe only come back
to it once and awhile.  So there is more fodder for the blogger
to post that is old.  This is an example of one
, its not that old, it was a booklet I made of angels.  I am
not into the whole angel thing so don't ask me why
I did a whole book on it. But I liked the little booklet
so here is one of the drawings.  Now this one was simple to do,
I did the background in the book first, and then on this
one, I cut out a shape of woman, and did a little spray
paint which blended in with the background, had
an wing stamp , and used a word stamp, and here
she is in all her glory.
Its gloomy today and a little rainy a perfect day to go to the library
and browse there art books, what do you do on gloomy days?

Chasing my tail

 

Just to let you know I am afraid of mice, rats,

but I like to draw them.  So I had this drawing in

my sketch book , so I scanned it, and I had the

word today scanned in as well, and all my

backgrounds are scanned in as I do them, and

I put them all together in Photoshop elements, and

this is what came out.  Plenty of space for writing a list

or whatever. 

today we are celebrating Fathers day a day early.

We are going out for lunch , then the

shopper and I are going shopping to needs to

get him a gift. Then its home for a barbeque.
So I better get going, what are you doing today?

One Image

 

As you all know I belong to facebook group that does trades

I really like it, but sometimes they don't allow International Trades

 

they consider Canada International which is really

laughable, we are there neighbour.  Anyway one of the women

wanted to trade and she was from Germany, so I said I would.

Now the challenge was one image, you send a postcard

and have one image on it.  So I sent mine off and Sandra

sent me her's which was the girl.  I have been having

a terrible time with this one and wishing as I usually

do, I had not said I would do this.  So she has

sent hers back to me, so I have to get something in the mail.

And this is about the 20 th redo of this card.  You cant

see but I put a piece of heavy plastic (I forget what its called)

over the window, I hope you get that its a window.  Now

I am totally rethinking this whole card.  Back to the

worktable.

Reminiscing

 

 

today was all about hanging out with old friends

gabbing, laughing, eating and

reminiscing.  Remembering when, when

we were young and we all worked together.
