today is all about:

this is a little postcard sized mixed media piece I did

you know I had it in a frame (ikea) on top of my

fireplace forever, I dont think I ever showed it on my blog

 

today I went to lunch with the neighbour

then I went to visit my friend in the hospital

I have been friends with her from grade 6

we introduced her to her husband

we have been together thru thick and thin

and the thin is coming now

what do you do when you don't know what to say

all I did was hold her hand and tell her I loved her

I just started this canvas

 

it has about 3 layers of stuff on it

the figure I have painted with masking fluid

because I am going to work on the background and had the person already pencilled in

will keep you posted on my progress

Did you know that this is my 10th year of blogging.  I cant belive it either.  For a girl who really has nothing to say, I managed to say quite a bit in 10 years.  The focus of my blog is suppose to be art and me.  I think I have kept pretty true to my first ideas of what I was going to say .  And I have managed to improve my art over these last 10 years as well.  I think that's all due to having a blog, getting involved in exchanges, challenges and thinking I must show you art everytime I blog. 

Lately I have been reading up on how to improve my blog and bring more traffic in.  I don't do any of things that I should do, to bring in the traffic.  The one thing I did do is
change my blog header, but I still kept my original name of the blog in it.  Other than that they say all your pictures should be the same size, and I am still trying to figure out how to do that.  They say that it should not be cluttered and easy to read.  I am thinking mine is pretty simple to read, might not be to eye catching and colorful but good enough.  The only place I might be lacking is content, unfortunately not much
happens in my life.  I could start telling you about my processes, how they work or don't work, or my search to get my art noticed (on going).  That might be an idea.  What do you want to see more of in this blog, if you read this blog, you come here for a reason, right, I go to blogs, because I love there art, I love there spin on things, or they have something that I want to learn how to do.

Mothers Day

 

 

Happy Mothers Day, and happy day if your not a mother

the shopper got back late last night from NYC

so I don't know if I will be seeing her

we are going to BBQ, and I am going to laze around

and enjoy the day, the art block remains, but

I am going to read some art books in hope of

some inspiration. What are you going to do today?

balancing act

 

sometimes life is a balancing act

at least it is with me

I am in a creative slump hence all the old art on my blog

when I am not happy with me, I am not creative

does that happen with you?

all my eggs are not all in one basket

they are spread out all over

and I am in conflict mode

but I am not giving up on me, my art, or the blog

A saga of my life

 

This is one of my index card challenges,  card I did I think last year.

I like the pony's and I love to go to the races and bet I have a

bit of gambling fever running through my blood I don't go to often (lol)

well today started out bad, first I was at my daughters checking the

house and I let devil dog out in the yard and I went out

with her, closed the door, and guess what its locked.

So there we are , first out in a raging snow storm,

locked out, no phone, no purse, no keys, no leash,

the snow is coming down in buckets, I am in my sandals,

we go down the ice filled stairs, she lives in a townhouse,

walk around the complex to the back where the garages

are attached, lucky they have this thing outside you can

punch a number in and open the garage, I let devil dog

in the car, and then wonder what the hell I am going to do.

She has already informed me there is no key hidden

anywhere, so be careful with the door.  So as luck

would have it, her neighbour who she does not know

happens to be going out and I stop her and ask

if she has a cell phone so I can call my husband,

and that's what I did, and he came with a key to the house.

 

so I guess I learned my lesson, don't go out her door unless you check

to see the door is not locked.

had to get my head clear and figure out some life problems

life problems still not figured out but working on it

today was all about an art journaling course I am taking at my favourite store, once a month

having a sour cream donut at Tim Hortons,I know its bad but its my treat

Have bbq salmon to make up for being bad

enjoying the fantastic weather

wearing capris first time this year

spring cleaning the basement,

having all the windows open and breathing in spring

My Process

 

I have been going thru some old art that I keep

on a flash drives.  And I thought I should tell

my readers my process, maybe  I am doing something

that is done an easier way than I am doing it.  So here is my process

because I know you are all dying to know:

 

first I create the art

I scan all my artwork

then on Photoshop elements, I brighten things up

and then save it up on my hard drive under

folders I have created, this one was in a

folder called animals, I have some called birds

abstract, faces, etc you get the drift.  When I have

to much on my hard drive, I transfer it over

to my flash drives.  I figure if my hard drive ad

every crashes, and it has, I have not lost anything, its

all on those flash drives, pictures included.  How do

you back up your work?

So I guess today the diet gets the back bench because

The window postcards

One  more example of my window postcards, I actually did quite a few

when I made them, and sent them out to friends .

A tut for you....

 

This one is going into illustration Friday its all about Windows there.  I love this technique and have made many like this, so I thought I would share.  First you get whatever size of substrate you want to create on, this is postcard size.  Then what I did

was draw, and paint, on it, then on top of that I cut out a piece of tracing paper, or some kind of paper you can see thru, my old mind cant think of the name of the paper and put it on top of your design, then

drew on that and  painted, or markers or what ever you want to use, sometimes I

used my sewing machine around the edges, sometimes tape, whatever you have on hand.  I cant remember where I saw this done, or I would credit the person with it.



collage questions

This is an oldie but goodie but it was one of my first.so I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
When making a collage I do have a hard time.  I always think it has to tell some kind of story be cohesive.  When you make a collage does anything block your process,enquiring minds want to know
