collage questions

This is an oldie but goodie but it was one of my first.so I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
When making a collage I do have a hard time.  I always think it has to tell some kind of story be cohesive.  When you make a collage does anything block your process,enquiring minds want to know

Playing with Paper

 

been playing around with some old papers,

and one of my girls, and this is one

of the pictures that I came up with.

I call it the teacher....she is in a bad mood. (lol)

I know I promised I would show you the other

abstract, but I have decided it needed more, so

maybe Saturday.  Stay Tuned for Project Runway

This collage started with the number 8 card I found on the road

well walking devil dog, its actually a sorry card, but I loved the

saying on it. Move one man forward 8 squares.  I have

this picture of my dad when he was young, in a leather jacket

and knew I wanted to use it with that card.  I had some deli

paper that I have painted on and added it to the card, and

then that song bad boy came into my head.  I have

a bunch of indiv letters cut out to use and this is

what came out of it.  Then I sewed around the edges,

and roughed it up with some sandpaper to make it

look old.

DLP #9 Collage something you would recyle

 

 

 

Week  #9 in the Document your life planner , the

challenge was use something you would recyle in a collage.

As it happens I just received my circle art journal in the mail

and http://morganlefaestrinkets.blogspot.ca/ sent me
some lovely emphera, and she had it in a lovely
decorated envelope with some lovely homemade
touches, so I incorporated them in my page, she
also sent me one of her postcards and I am
going to use it in as a tip in.

I really am enjoying using my planner, not only as a art
project, but as a planner keeping my day in order,
things I want to do, I have my bucket list in there,
I am working on a  100 of my favorite songs
and once I have them all down, I am going to use
my itune gift certificates.  I am not rushing into
choosing my favorite tunes.

When in Rome.....

I have been to Pisa, and the tower does lean, when we were there a zillion years ago
they were working on it, because it was in danger of falling over it was leaning so badly.  And  on a side note, these women are not in my family.....(lol).  I had fun searcing for the right elements for this collage, I did not not want to overload it with to much to look at..  I wanted the elements to speak for themselves, I hope I achieved that look.
Today I am in the midst of making chicken soup.  The weather in the prairies  is brutal  cold and a high wind chill, so soup fills the bill. Even devil dog does not linger in the backyard when its this cold.  I know I know I said no more weather news would come out of this blog, but say la vie. I

been making 6x6 collages

or my version of collages

found a cat calendar that was 6x6

glue two together

gesso, paint and collage

very sturdy, also

use those scrapbook packs

of 6x6 pages.

How do I collage .....let me show you

this is a collage made by all of my own elements

first I glued to 6x6 scrapbook pages together

put on some orange paint to start, randomly didn't fill up the card

all the art I do , even the doodles I scan so I can use it for

collage

the buildings were a doodle I had so I cut them out

pasted them on the card

the bird you have seen before, cut him out

added some paint, add some black and white pen

stamped in the word fly

and there you have it an instant collage

anyone can do it

and I have been watching her art journal,

now for sure she has her own style, and

I don't want to copy her style, so this

is a version of my own.  All I used

was found papers, and words and this is what came out.

I love it, its full of goodness

Happiness....

this is not me, (this is my mother)

 

I have been playing around with collage, as you can see

this is in my moleskin planner for document your life,

this is the opposite page of the challenge page which I have not done yet

I like collage because I like to create a story, or some semblance of a story.

I think I am  going to create a few more in the near future, I like

rummaging through my stuff, and finding out what I think goes with

what.  Do you like collage?

this is my grandmother, on my dads side

I like to use her  in my art, she really was not a nice lady or  a mother.
Her face is really not green,

its just looks like it here

 

I used a hard back canvas

put all kinds of mixed media papers on it

drew the trees, cut the leaves out of old book paper

cut her out of a photocopy

painted her with markers, and just painted the trees and the background

I like the way she turned out, she might make it on the mantel on my fireplace

todayI am  off to the goodwill bookstore, I love that place, old books

I am looking for some children pop up books

then its off to winners, I am looking for something to put on my ledge in the

kitchen.

a update on the circle journal

this is the fool finished page, I like the

sample below a little better, but I have

to get the journal in the mail and off to Australia,

so no more fooling around with it.

 



Zero hours

 

So its almost zero hours, are your ready?

If I don't have enough for everyone that's to bad, that's my motto.

Christmas is suppose to be about being together, family time,

not about commercialism.  But hey a little bit doesn't hurt.

We are having Christmas dinner on Christmas eve

first time ever, the shopper and the boyfriend

are going on a little trip for 10 days, and

leaving on Christmas day, which by the

way if you fly on Christmas day is cheaper.

So on Christmas morning it wont be all that

rushing around opening presents, and trying

to get the turkey ready.

Fools and Divinities

Yesterday I told you about the Circle Journal Exchange I am in,

this is the Divinity page that I made, I just noticed, I need

to add some more white around the sun.  This page is opposite

a page done by a fellow artist and hers was the moon.  So It

was a no brainer to do the sun

Went to go swimming today and the pool is closed.  It has been

so cold here that the pipes froze and made all kinds of

mess all over the facility and they are not sure when it

will reopen. Leftovers tonight and working on finishing my

page on fools.
