The City heights

 

wanted to enter this to illustration Friday, just under the wire.

And it has to be on my blog, so here it is a little wonky.

You have come along way baby....

 

there was a comment left yesterday, about how far I have come as an artist.  And you know she is completely right.  The other day I was looking at my first ever journal, and I even cringed at it.  But you know what I might have cringed but I put it out there, bad or good so I pat myself on my back.  I managed to find somewhat of a style along the journey, how much I like color, I think my style might lean towards illustrative.  How I like to try all different techniques, did I mention how much I like color (lol).  So I want to know do you go back and look at your art from when you first started and see how much you have grown?

A few of my favourite things....

 

Last night while watching TV, I sat sketching and

this is what came out, and I only used

markers.  I thought that since this was Friday,

I would tell you a few of my very favourite art supplies.

I know you are all on the edge of your seat and have

been wondering what I use (lol).  So here it goes:

 

I use markers a lot I like the intensity of colour

it gives, its portability, so my favourite ones are

PERMAPAGUE, I used to get them

at Michaels but cant find them anymore,

so my art store carries them. I have all colours.

 

My favourite black pen is

PILOT PERMABALL PEN (M)

this baby writes over anything

 

Favourite gluestick

Alymers Purple Glue

 

Favourite watercolour markers

Tombow Acid Free

 

This is my favourite white pen that really turns white

Pentel Correction Pen

Second choice Signo uniball pen

I should have known.....

 

after a busy weekend, I have settled back into my routine

do you have a routine?  I found that since I retired

if I don't have routine of some sort I find the day

passes in a blur, my routine is not set in stone

its very flexible, allowing for a lot of down time.

I swim everyday, I do some sort of cleaning,

I walk the dog, I cook, and make art, with

other variables thrown in. 

Like for instance my IPAD not working, and its

not very old, April.  So I am off to

Apple to find out what the _____is the

problem.  Lucky the hubster who is

very organized had the bill safely tucked

away, because I worried all night where

I had put the bill.  He knows me to well.

night, and decided to show it two ways.

I am going to the studio to try and make some art

I walked the dog nice weather

I cleaned out my car of the winter mess

WEEKLY WRAPUP

 

went out for pizza with good friends

got my chin threaded

 made some healthy food

went for some long walks with devil dog

put all the winter wear away

and brought up all the spring and summer

that means no socks for me

bought a new stencil

cleaned some cupboards

cleaned the studio trying to get inspiration

went to the library

listened to a great book cd

and it was such an exciting week (lol) that was it.

Where's Waldo

 

This is a cover page for the dlp project

the task for same colour pallet

the green really is a teal color

but doesn't show up on here very good

I made the birds to blend in, and try

and find them, hence the title.

If you don't know Where's Waldo ,

there usually is page full of people and

you have to find Waldo. I had

fun making this page.

Today I went out with my friend, who

is on her way home in B.C.  They

left there winter home in Phoenix,

so we did lunch with our other friend,

did a little shopping, and little visiting,

and some errands, all and all I had a great day

 



The day after....

 

Thank you for all the birthday wishes

I had a great birthday, bought my IPAD

had a pedicure, out for dinner with the

family, nothing could have been better

Today I went to the art store, bought some

pens, and pencils, some charcoal. Did

some art, working on my second last

traveling circle journal.  I am having

trouble with this one, its subject

is Inner and Outer, I know what

do you do for that? I have a few

arty things I need to get in the mail

that I am way behind on .  So hopefully

you had a great day today

this is document your life planner page10? I think

it was draw a bird, you know me and my birds.

Well the little blue guy, made out of painted

paper, the middle book pages, the last painted

napkin.  I found the words in a magazine, but

just outlinde them in whiteout.  The back ground

is  made with sharpies, and the bird on a wire

 tape I got on a package.

 

Well today the sun is shining, the snow is melting,

we can see grass, the deck is clear of snow, I

think spring is coming.  So today I am going

for a long walk with devil dog, to enjoy this

weather.  What are you doing today?

well this is another peek at the inside page of my documented

daily planner.  I don't know if I told 't you this or not, but

if I did just skip this part.  I had made this bird

before, but I added the big eyes to him, and liked the

look and decided I would probably use this again.

So I make a collage sheet full of this bird and printed it.  So

anytime I want him I have him.  I do that a lot with my

art.  In order to keep my collage pages somewhere where

I can find them I keep them all together in a flat brown

box. 

Hubby is watching curling, devil dog is out cold on her bed, and

I am pinterest surfing.  I love pinterest don't you. The hubster

has been in and out of the hospital, since he got out after

spending a month there.  You go in with one problem and come

out with 5 you didn't know you had, its hell to get old.

At least one of us is healthy, I am a year younger (lol) I always

tell him he robbed the cradle.

How do I collage .....let me show you

this is a collage made by all of my own elements

first I glued to 6x6 scrapbook pages together

put on some orange paint to start, randomly didn't fill up the card

all the art I do , even the doodles I scan so I can use it for

collage

the buildings were a doodle I had so I cut them out

pasted them on the card

the bird you have seen before, cut him out

added some paint, add some black and white pen

stamped in the word fly

and there you have it an instant collage

anyone can do it

guess who's coming to dinner

 

Your probably thinking, god what's she thinking when she

thinks up her blog title. Lets be honest I find it really

hard to think of titles for the daily blog, as you can tell.

Since the hubster has been in the hospital, I have been

eating crappy, just saying, hospital food on the go

is not healthy, I think they need to change that up.

Today I went to the book store, and bought the

magazine Artist Café, I had put a moratorium

on buying these types of magazines, one because

they are way to expensive, and two they say

all the same things, a thousand times over, just

different ways, but hey I was in a spending mood.

 

I have a hard time finding these magazines in

my bookstore, because they put them all

in different sections of the magazine racks.

So I made a couple of suggestions to

the magazine person who was working there,

and told her that these magazines, and I

named them, should be grouped together.

Because the people who read these

magazines all pretty well do the

same kind of art, and they would

sell more if they were easier to find.

I don't think she appreciated my intervention (lol), if

I was the magazine person I don't think I would have either.

ok not to talky today

as my life is really boring.......

Focus

 

I decided to show you a little of what is going on in

my daily planner, this is what is known to me

as inside the tip in art.....

I just have fun, I put a little piece of this here

and a little bit of that there, and a word here and a word there,

and its not all at one time, its when ever I find something right,

or the mood strikes me.  The planner is not only good

for getting me places on time, and the right day,

but good for planning art projects, and I do do some a little

bit of art, to make me happy when I open it up .

On the go

 

are you sick of me drawing birds

I really like drawing them so you will see more

today I am taking off early

my yearly appointment with the doctor

the art store which is conveniently located across from my Doctor

the library

home to the studio, got some new containers from Wal-Mart

because they have a big sale of containers

going to do what I love when I am in art slump

I am going to organize.

Put up your hand if you love to organize in January

did all my drawers in the kitchen the other day

I know who loves to do that

its me, I get a thrill with organization

am I weird the shopper thinks so

A little bit bitchy

well today its raining

tomorrow will be cold and snow

that's it I need a trip to a warm climate

got new suitcases ready to go.

As you know the shopper is away

her car in parked in our driveway

could not get the key to turn

finally got it going, drove it

to Honda to see the problem,

1000.00 dollars later we

know the problem. In my

next life I want to come back

as a mechanic, that's where the money is.

 

okay enough whining back to business.

The pool is re opening on the 8th yeah

closed for repairs since mid December

a pipe burst, the weather was so cold

I know god I sound like the weather man.  You

will hear no more about the weather from

me until summer. Then I will be back

bitching about the heat.

As you can tell not much to talk about
