to celebrate warmer weather I put a flower in her hair

I myself do not wear flowers in my hair

or hairbands or hats and if you have read

this blog for awhile, you know its because

I don't look good in any of those items.

 

I am off for some work on me today

that's what I feel like lately

it seems like I don't take care of myself the way

I used to when I worked, but that's all

changing, because whats the difference if I work or not

I still need to feel good, and so do you, so

I am going out to get these things done tomorrow

A page in the life..;..

One of the challenges in the Documented Life Project

was to use a magazine ad or something from a magazine

I used Nelson picture.  I had cut it out awhile ago

because I liked Nelson, and I loved the look of this.

and so I went with it, and used some other elements with it

and I liked the way it turned out

I had a hell of time trying to get into my blog, a whole day

of trying this and that.  I thought I was going to have

to give it up, but I managed somehow to get in

don't ask me how I did it, I don't have the faintest idea (lol)

Four......

 

Do you golf? I wish I did, but I don't have

the patience for this game.  And its really

expensive.  I did this drawing a long

time ago I don't know If I have even

showed it before.  I wasn't happy with

a lot of things, about it, the butt, the legs,

the hands, the face.  But we don't all

have master pieces, do we. We could

not golf here even if I wanted to

it has been snowing for two days. I

wonder what happened to spring flowers



bad boy bad boy.....

 

This collage started with the number 8 card I found on the road

well walking devil dog, its actually a sorry card, but I loved the

saying on it. Move one man forward 8 squares.  I have

this picture of my dad when he was young, in a leather jacket

and knew I wanted to use it with that card.  I had some deli

paper that I have painted on and added it to the card, and

then that song bad boy came into my head.  I have

a bunch of indiv letters cut out to use and this is

what came out of it.  Then I sewed around the edges,

and roughed it up with some sandpaper to make it

look old.

Searching for the elusive

 

I keep drawing these cityscapes because \I am

in search of a certain look, this is not it.

I have been organizing all my art that I have

scanned and put on my computer.  I have put

them into categories, such as faces, birds

  All the collage I have collected, and scanned, etc

That  way when I am looking for something it

should be easier to find.  Do you scan your

art?



The day after....

 

Thank you for all the birthday wishes

I had a great birthday, bought my IPAD

had a pedicure, out for dinner with the

family, nothing could have been better

Today I went to the art store, bought some

pens, and pencils, some charcoal. Did

some art, working on my second last

traveling circle journal.  I am having

trouble with this one, its subject

is Inner and Outer, I know what

do you do for that? I have a few

arty things I need to get in the mail

that I am way behind on .  So hopefully

you had a great day today

Today is the big B

I am going to Apple today and buying my IPAD
I am getting the 2nd generation only

because it has a big screen

I would like the mini but these eyes need

a big screen

Last night B celebration at the mother in-laws

favourite cake (carrot) supplied by my sister in-law

tonight if hubby is feeling better dinner out

with the boyfriend and the shopper

if hubby doesn't feel good we are

having a steak BBQ and all the

trimmings.

So today its all about me, pedicure

IPAD shopping, maybe the

art store.  Well I better

go make myself beautiful, as

you know when your 30 you

don't need much (lol)

New Technology

Well I thought I would post before I left for the day.  I am

on the hunt for a IPAD.  I am a little behind in all

the new techno stuff.  We have at present a home computer,

where the printer and scanner are hooked up to.  And I

had a Laptop, I did all my internet surfing on it , well in the family room
 with the

hubster.  Well last night the LapTop gave up. I think I have

had it about 5 years, and I have given it a good workout.  I

have wanted an IPAD but could not justify buying one

because I had the laptop.  And because I am having a

birthday next week, perfect timing.  So I am on the

hunt.  I will keep you informed.

body I the collage and she became a

girl.  I love that when it happens it then

takes on a whole other meaning then what

you started with. And the   song

no excuses, I have nothing of value to say

I live a life that sometimes I am bored with

I have been staying around the house

keeping the hubster company.  The

only other thing I do is still swim

every morning. I have not even

been to the art store.  I know, I know

I feel the need coming on.

to my youth.  I still remember playing

She Loves Me on my record player on the

floor with my sister (lol) anyway I

was practising my lettering and this is

what came out.

this is document your life planner page10? I think

it was draw a bird, you know me and my birds.

Well the little blue guy, made out of painted

paper, the middle book pages, the last painted

napkin.  I found the words in a magazine, but

just outlinde them in whiteout.  The back ground

is  made with sharpies, and the bird on a wire

 tape I got on a package.

 

Well today the sun is shining, the snow is melting,

we can see grass, the deck is clear of snow, I

think spring is coming.  So today I am going

for a long walk with devil dog, to enjoy this

weather.  What are you doing today?

correct measurements for a full length body.

DLP #9 Collage something you would recyle

 

 

 

Week  #9 in the Document your life planner , the

challenge was use something you would recyle in a collage.

As it happens I just received my circle art journal in the mail

and http://morganlefaestrinkets.blogspot.ca/ sent me
some lovely emphera, and she had it in a lovely
decorated envelope with some lovely homemade
touches, so I incorporated them in my page, she
also sent me one of her postcards and I am
going to use it in as a tip in.

I really am enjoying using my planner, not only as a art
project, but as a planner keeping my day in order,
things I want to do, I have my bucket list in there,
I am working on a  100 of my favorite songs
and once I have them all down, I am going to use
my itune gift certificates.  I am not rushing into
choosing my favorite tunes.

A exchange tip.....

 

the skin color does not turn out to good on the computer in

real life it is very smooth, I tried to fix it in Photoshop elements

but it looked worse.

I created this while watching TV, just used markers.  I have

to make these ladies smile more, or is that just a part

of my style. 

 

The Circle Journal that I am a participant in just arrived yesterday.  This is

almost the end of the swap, only one more after this one.  I had

fun doing it, and for sure would do it again.  The art in the journals have been

amazing.  The only downsize is the postal rates, but you have to

factor that in when signing up for these things.  So if you ever are

thinking of doing a journal exchange think about where the

participants are from.  Just a tip from me.

A tiny peek in my life....

well this is another peek at the inside page of my documented

daily planner.  I don't know if I told 't you this or not, but

if I did just skip this part.  I had made this bird

before, but I added the big eyes to him, and liked the

look and decided I would probably use this again.

So I make a collage sheet full of this bird and printed it.  So

anytime I want him I have him.  I do that a lot with my

art.  In order to keep my collage pages somewhere where

I can find them I keep them all together in a flat brown

box. 

Hubby is watching curling, devil dog is out cold on her bed, and

I am pinterest surfing.  I love pinterest don't you. The hubster

has been in and out of the hospital, since he got out after

spending a month there.  You go in with one problem and come

out with 5 you didn't know you had, its hell to get old.

At least one of us is healthy, I am a year younger (lol) I always

tell him he robbed the cradle.

ABSTRACTION or Distraction

I have hitched my wagon this week to the Challenge over

at  http://mix-it-monthly.blogspot.ca/ this week
theme abstraction, to use a certain color palette
well  I messed up big time and forgot
about the palette and did my own thing.
This was my take on it, so predicable right
I am going to do another with the right colors
and not use shapes, stay tuned

good ideas gone bad

she started out as a good idea

and then she was almost the best girl I had ever done

but it went downhill quickly from there

I just never know when enough is enough

you know you think oh I will do a little of this and a little of that

then her face is crap, then I decide to put some

tissue paper on it, then went with my usual white

and should have just let it alone

so just so you know sometimes good ideas are bad (lol)

When in Rome.....

I have been to Pisa, and the tower does lean, when we were there a zillion years ago
they were working on it, because it was in danger of falling over it was leaning so badly.  And  on a side note, these women are not in my family.....(lol).  I had fun searcing for the right elements for this collage, I did not not want to overload it with to much to look at..  I wanted the elements to speak for themselves, I hope I achieved that look.
Today I am in the midst of making chicken soup.  The weather in the prairies  is brutal  cold and a high wind chill, so soup fills the bill. Even devil dog does not linger in the backyard when its this cold.  I know I know I said no more weather news would come out of this blog, but say la vie. I

We will now resume regular programming

I am back

hubby got out of the hospital on Tuesday after a month

he has to go back for a month once a day for some treatment

but all is well

so now I can back to my normal life

I am going to make a canvas for the bedroom

been scouting out ideas, and color combos

what have you been doing

Relaxation

 

well now the games are over

its back to regular programming

today its all about relaxation

reading, drawing, cleaning up art supplies

eating leftovers, sitting in front of the fireplace

Oldy but Goody Friday

this might have been during my pointy chin faze

I kinda like that look , it might be back

working on a collages, paper is flying

hubby will be home on Friday for a weekend pass

but needs to return for more tests

cold front coming in

time for comforting food to be made

I been feeling like homemade tomato soup

and homemade bread, bread coming from the bakery

my kneeding skills need work

this is a collage made by all of my own elements

first I glued to 6x6 scrapbook pages together

put on some orange paint to start, randomly didn't fill up the card

all the art I do , even the doodles I scan so I can use it for

collage

the buildings were a doodle I had so I cut them out

pasted them on the card

the bird you have seen before, cut him out

added some paint, add some black and white pen

stamped in the word fly

and there you have it an instant collage

anyone can do it

Update Canada

 

today is a holiday family day

watched the ice dancing loved it

cant skate a lick never could

I always said I had bad ankles

hubster came home yesterday for a few hours, getting better by the day

need to get back into my routine

Miss Sofie

 

Meet Sofie (aka Devil dog)

she is part pug/corgie, and really

she is a sweet girl, very well

mannered when she wants to be, and

sometimes listens (lol), the ruler of the house,

and according to her way of thinking she is my boss (lol)

Am I a dog person, never was, had a couple of

dogs while growing up.  The shopper

kept asking for one, the answer always was no,

we don't have the lifestyle for a dog etc.

So when she was in grade 12, she saved

her money and asked if she could buy

one, and she would be sole responsible.

So here came Sofie, and quess where the

shopper is, living at her own place

minus the dog, because she just

doesn't have the time with work, and everything

and we are retired. So Sofie is ours, and

I don't regret a minute of it.

have you heard the news......

well we finally got great news yesterday, not what we

were expecting at all.  So the hubster is happy, I am

happy, so its a happy place today.

Though she doesn't look happy she is,

I have yet to master a good looking

smile on these girls, but will keep trying.

things have not changed to much in my house

without giving away the farm, I can tell you

the hubster is still in the hospital, and

things so far are not looking to good.

But I decided I needed something normal

in y life, and its this blog.  We have a

love hate relationship with each other

sometimes I love to blog, and sometimes I don't

So I decided I am going to blog, maybe not every

day,but when I have the time

Cardboard fun

 

I showed you one of these flowers here http://leekre.blogspot.ca/2014/02/the-healing-art-of-flower.html

now here is the rest of it, sometimes only one thing in your painting was

worth your time, and you guessed it, it was that flower

I did this on a piece of cardboard that was lying around in the

studio, I was just fooling around, seeing what worked and

what didn't, and I got that one flower, that was a keeper.

So the moral of the story is, I didn't waste any great paper

just cardboard, got one great idea off it, and had fun. Sometimes

that's all you can ask for....

guess who's coming to dinner

 

Your probably thinking, god what's she thinking when she

thinks up her blog title. Lets be honest I find it really

hard to think of titles for the daily blog, as you can tell.

Since the hubster has been in the hospital, I have been

eating crappy, just saying, hospital food on the go

is not healthy, I think they need to change that up.

Today I went to the book store, and bought the

magazine Artist Café, I had put a moratorium

on buying these types of magazines, one because

they are way to expensive, and two they say

all the same things, a thousand times over, just

different ways, but hey I was in a spending mood.

 

I have a hard time finding these magazines in

my bookstore, because they put them all

in different sections of the magazine racks.

So I made a couple of suggestions to

the magazine person who was working there,

and told her that these magazines, and I

named them, should be grouped together.

Because the people who read these

magazines all pretty well do the

same kind of art, and they would

sell more if they were easier to find.

I don't think she appreciated my intervention (lol), if

I was the magazine person I don't think I would have either.

Problem solver

 

that pink stuff on her cheek is a bleed thru from the other page, so

are all the other splotches, I think they give the page character

not perfect just like me

I did not join the 29 faces this year , though I did manage

to finish them last year, it drained me of faces for awhile,

so I decided I would just play along at my own speed

it I feel like drawing a face I will, if not oh well.

Just because I am a fly by the seat kinda of girl (not)

wishing I WAS



The healing art of the flower...

I just noticed I seem to use this bright pink a lot in my art

I like it because it pops off the page for me

today is a busy day

I had just listed all I had to do, and just deleted it

you don't want to know what I have to do today

but most of the day is the hospital

they are still doing a ton of tests of him

I think today bout of tests will do it

Okay I am off to do it.  See you

A peek into my life...

things you wanted to know about me but were afraid to ask (lol) or things
you don't want to know about me, but I am telling you anyway.

I am 60 years old, (but feel 30)
I have a poor body image, always have and I am working on changing that, and
being happy with me. 
I don't do the grocery shopping but I make the list.  Hubby likes to do the shopping.
We have only owned 2 houses in my entire marriage, I hate moving
My husband and I own Hondas cars,
I have a 7 year old dog corgi/pug, named Sofie aka(devil dog)
I worked for the same company for 35 years and retired at 55
I love to read, trash to best sellers
My 3  favorites tv shows are  The following, The Blacklist, Downton Abbey
I am the one in the house who sets up anything electronic (hubby is electronically challenged)
I have been on Facebook for just over a year, I joined it, for some art groups
We have a two story house but I would like to downsize and move into a bungalow (hubby does not want to move
  I listen to audio books in my car (I get them from the Library)
I like to cook and try different recipes
I love going to Movies and am not afraid to go by myself
I am a loyal friend
I am a talker to anyone who talks to me (ask my daughter she hates this about me)
I have been told that I have a dry sense of humor
I am quite insecure about my art
I love to travel but the hubster does not
I am not a party girl, never have, never will be
I like the odd glass of white wine, but have been know to have a few to many
I like a tidy house, and do not like clutter
I am a shower girl

 Now its time for you to tell me a little about who you are

when it rains it pours

the last few days have been a whirl wind of anxiety and stress

I don't know if I told you but the hubster has not been

feeling to well the last month

Since I doubt he would want me tell the details

I will cut to the chase , Thursday night I had to

call 911 and get an ambulance here pronto,

and I am so glad I did what my heart

told me do.

anyway he's where is should be and getting

the medical attention he needs and

is on the mend and should be home

in a few days mended.
