painting the fish-Inspiration Thursday

Last night I drew this picture of fish so that I could practice with watercolours, I am not very good at them, so more practice the better. I had just posted this when i went to Inspiration Thursday and find out its about Watercolour, I didnt even have to think about it here it is. I am trying to learn about watercolours, I have every library book out on watercolours and working my way throught them in hopes of getting better. So here it is, it is what it is...

  1. I like your watercolours...I am new to them too, so I'm not very good. I dont think I have it quite right yet!

But you know what they say - practise makes perfect.....we just gotta keep trying and watercolouring...

I am going to try watercolors too then Lee. You have inspired me. You always do something new each day. You always keep working so hard to define yourself. Life is the struggle to find our true self. Good Job.

  11. I love that each of your fish faces have a distinct personality! I want to give them all a name. The colours are so true to what you see out on the reef by Key West! Makes me want to go for a snorkel...

I think you have done well with the watercolours :)

I have been procrastinating about doing watercolours too, however my colour pencil technique is so bad that I need to give them a try for my illustrations. So I guess this is the week.

  13. I agree-it's a great start. I've played with them enough to decide that they can be tricky!

  15. Your fish are so colorful, and I like how they really seem to be swimming in water! What fun when there's a coincidence like this... you play with watercolors and then there's a challenge! Very nice:>

  16. your colors are so alive...i agree watercolors can be challenging because they move on their own. sounds like a lot of us are discovering something new!

  17. I did my first one for this challenge too. I like how colorful yours is. I think I'm going to have to get some books too. Could become addictive.

  19. I like it!! Don't feel bad--my idea of a watercolor is coloring my page with a watercolor pencil, and swishing it around! I think you are doing beautifully, and I admire that you are teaching yourself!!

  20. I think it's beautiful. My colours turned out much too dark. I've got books and looked at books too. I agree - I think it just takes practice.

  22. Hi Lee,
I think these look good! Getting used to a new medium can be challenging...and you've done marvelously...so many fish you've created! Each time of course..you'll do with more ease. (I've not yet tried watercolors...)
    Keep creating...
    : )
