Loosen up- Finger art

Still working on the free course, this one was about contour drawing. Looking at your object and not looking at your paper well drawing. Its hard at first, but then you get the hang of it. Good to practice for sure. After that I used paint and words and you were allowed to look for that one. Where have I have been for 2 days. Just hanging out. Today was physio therapy day. About a month ago I fell while walking the dog . Tried to get up and slipped again on the ice. Its my syicatic (this spelled wrong) nerve. Today was acupunture, heat and altrasound this is my second session. Still does not feel to great.

How do you look in hats.....

This morning there was a ton of snow. And I decided to help hubby out and go out (since he was at work) and shovel the snow off the sidewalk. Well the daughter (or as I call her the shopper) has a ton of real funky hats (she looks good in hats not inherited from me). So I tried them all 0n and I looked like the escapee from prison. So instead I went outside with my dorky earmuffs. I always wished I could wear a hat. I am always trying them them on when shopping, and the shopper always says I am not meant for hats. I no this is just brilliant conversation for Tuesday....as you can see I dont have much to say. So signing off. Studio pictures today for sure.

I am loose are you

I am taking an online FREE Loosen Up - painting course (two weeks) over at Gary Reef Ning site. On side bar you will find the link

I am enjoying it, you paint with the end of your paintbrush and you paint, crayon and you just let the art flow, its not suppose to be perfect, its on newsprint. But I am having fun. You should check it out. Last night I cleaned the studio and purged pictures later on before I go down and mess it up.

Process that...

Do you have a process that you do when creating art, poems. Do you do a quick sketch, do you keep a book when a thought comes into your head. Do you have one by your bed so when you wake up with an idea you can write it down, before it is forgotten. I write things down when I think of them, because my menopause mind is not so great anymore at rembering. When writing poems, I dont have a topic in mind, one word might trigger a poem. Put I also like to make a drawing a sketch a fast one, no real details of what I think the poem is about. Then it might or might not make it into my art journal. Depending if I think the poem is worthy, If not it stays in my poem book.

Transferring part 1

I have beenf experimenting transferring photos. This transfer was done by using gesso as the transfer medium.
I was quite happy with it, I used gesso on my page that I was transferring the picture to. Gesso on the picture. And then let it dry completly. I think this is most important.

Once dry I used a spray bottle with water, and used my finger to scrap the layer of paper off.
And then used paint, distress inks and grahite pencil for the rest. Keep tuned for more results with different mediums. I am determined to get this right. I think one of the secrets is the paper you transfer the image to.

Lace it up...Inspiration Thursday

Today is all about Lace. Immediately thought of laces. Took a picture of hubbys shoe, photoshopped it by choosing a coloured pencil filter. and outlined the laces and filled in the shoe. So here is my entry......

Today I am a Hybrid......

Happy early Valentines day to you all.....I am not going to post tomorrow so wanted to get this done early. Tomorrow I am just going hang out with hubby wither he wants to or not (lol). Going to go to the art store and feel some love there. Then to the studio to try to get love there, doesn't always happen there. So this little design was drawn and coloured with water colour crayons. And then I thought it needed more so photoshopped it to the max. I thought it turned out fun and flirty.....

sneak peek at a girl

Did you know that I took an online course. I did from Wyanne,(see list of favs) I love her blog and her paintings. Now her type of girls are really not my type that I like to draw. I like mine to have noses that dont look like noses cause I cant draw them, eyes to far apart and so on. So you can see from this I needed help. I took her course and learned alot, on making backgrounds (the canvas background is finished) and the making of these girls, now I wouldnt be making these girls all the time, probably this will be it. But I did learn and I was pleased so money well spent. Now I am just waiting for Lost Luggage to have online classes (hope your reading this Julie).
So my girlie is not done plus there are three more for the same canvas so got to get them finished as the classes are done. So hope you like my sneak peek.

I am.......

Today challenge at Mistys is I am....and here is mine (no I dont really think I am phenomenial woman) but I love that poem by Maya Angelou.
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Maya Angelou

I know all my readers are phenomenal women......so thanks for reading my blog.

Whats on your bulletin board...

Thought I would show you my bulletin boards in the studio before I clean them off. I think its about time. They were suppose to be inspiration boards. Instead they turned into things I dont know what to do with. Some ideas, some finished works, some hanging items.
This one has a couple of old pastel drawings, that I did ages ago. A old shoe mixed media piece I did ages ago and just stuff. A travel journal....Now take a picture and show me yours.....I find bulletin boards fasicanting.

Asian art....

I bought about 5 of these from Michaels ages ago. I thought I could do something else with them. I did the one below a long time ago, I cant even remember when. It turned out pretty good, all it cost me was my time and $1.50 from the bin at Michaels
I used some stencils I had, some cheap craft paint, a postcard from Ikea that I had. I did a photo transfer and blended everything in, painted and here it is. Hope you like it.

Inspiration Thursday - Fold

Over at Inspiration Thursday its all about the fold. Now I could have taken some dramatic shots of me folding laundry. But instead thought I show you a foldnote called the centered foldnote. Two things in one (a envelope and a letter). I love paper and have a book that shows you how to do all kinds of folds with it.

Ordinary Miracle Today....

Over at Misty Mawns every wednesday she is having a art journal prompt, today was a fav song. I was driving around in my car today (it was like summer here) with Sarah McLachlan playing in my CD player and this one came on,,,it suited the way I was feeling today. I am really upbeat and happy today, full of creative energy and ready to create something great. Hubby is out of town (is that the reason lol) and I am all alone except for the daughter who is never home. Just me and the dog, going groove in the studio all night tonight. So talk to you tommorow.

A rose is a Rose ....

This is a picture of rose that I did in watercolour a while ago, I might have posted it before. I have been busy working on stuff different techniques etc, stuff that is really not postable. I have also been working on my poetry. Did you know I write poetry. I actually surprised myself a couple of years ago and became interested in writing it. I am in the midst of finishing one up and plan on posting it. But other than that the weather is great. I went to Starbucks today and sat and had a hot chocolate and tried to work on the poem. But thats about it.
