The dead arise

The wind begins to howl and moan

A coyote is on the prowl alone

From nowhere what should appear

The devil hunting alone with his spear

He sniffs the air and knows his prey is near

He seizes the man who moans in fear

The ground opens up and they both disappear

New Canadian Hottie

Meet Jackie, one of my pals that went on the trip, she has blonde hair, and in honor of her canadian roots a winter cap.  I sure when she looks at this she will be mortified by oh well artists lisence.
Had lunch with the Phoneix girls, minus Jackie, got caught up on all the goinings on since we last saw each other in Phoneix.  Picked up my Mother who is coming for dinner and a sleep over tonight.  And now am about to start to put this house back together again.......after the floor installation.  Other than that I am not doing to much.  I am in art trade by way of Janet, where you send it to 6 people and so on and so, its like a pyramid but without the money (darn).  So if you read this blog and are interested I need a couple more people.
Well talk to you all soon.

Well I am back, got the computers all hooked up tonight, I am the computer person of the house, no one else knows how to hook anything up.  Well the floors are done and are beautiful, I am thrilled beyond belief.  Now the above picture says it all, no need to explain.  But me, I do look better with makeup.
Well tommorow I am off to get the flu shot at the doctors.  I was going for the H1N1 shot but the lineups are out of this world.  So i will wait for a few days.  How about you do you plan on getting the shot.  Much ado around these parts shot or no shot.  I am also going out to lunch with the Phoneix girls.
Well talk to you all soon.

Hello Tuesday, where did monday go

I have been silent lately, as I have been gettidng ready for the floor man.  He is here now and starting the floors, I am inbetween about them, I quess I will decide when he is finished.  To late now anyway.  These two atc are not finished as you can see she has no arms and the cat needs a few legs.  I am liking the way they turned out even if I dont like Halloween much I like creating art.  Today I started making a art journal, wish me good luck on that I have taken the course, thought about (i dont rush into things) and have now started will keep you posted on the progess.
I thought I did not have internet and really still cant figure it out.  I unhooked the main computer and moved and it and all its compents are unplugged.  But i decided to see if the laptop was working not counting on it, and here it is working..,...I am very pleased.  I did not want to miss to many days without posting. Or checking all my blogs.  Well should go talk to you all tommorow.

Oh Saturday.....

Was working with pastels last night, as I am trying to get better at drawing birds, and pastels.  This took 10 minutes, I am trying to draw what I see and not look back at the picture.  I am not that happy with the way it turned out, the other rule is no do overs.

Lately I have been reading alot of blogs where artists are unhappy with there art, I joined that club awhile agao.  Sometimes I decide I am going to put it all away and do something else.  When I try to draw something and it doesn't turn out.  Or since I have no formal training, when I paint and turned out like crap or muddy.  So the question is to you need to be formally trained to feel like an artist?  I would like to hear what you all have to say .....

Friday is a GO day

Another page from my travel journal, this one was for animals I saw on the trip.  Just thank your lucky stars it wasnt License Plates.  Well today is Friday,,,,,today I am off to do some fun errands, pick up some pictures I am getting developed at Walmart, buy some new sketechbooks, hit the dollar store, go to the art store, come home and do some art.  What are you doing today.
Its a drab day here in old Canada, one of those days you just want to stay home with a cup of hot chocolate and watch old movies.  But I am motivated to get out and have me some fun.  I have been playing catch up on housework and laundry and cooking and its time for me time.
Next week the hardward floors are being installed and it is going to be hell around here.  I am taking devil dog to doggy daycare to two days, so at least I dont have to chase her around the house.  Lucky hubby is out of town the whole time, and the shopper is working, so Its just me and the workers.

Well enough boring stuff hope you arent asleep yet, I might try my hand at Inspiration Thursday and Illustration Friday if this old noggin can come up with any thing.  Look for more from me soon.

Goodbye...Phoenix it was lovely

This will be the last post about my trip...I think you will be fed up by now.  I dont know if you have noticed by I have been spelling Phoenix wrong...so sorry.Spell check does not work on blogger for some unknow random reason.

The sunset picture was taken by the car in the Costco parking lot, they have beautiful sunsets.

The moose in my art journal was my ode to my Canadian roots, eh...dont you know we all say that.  The man in the parking lot selling the tshirts, knew two things about Canadians, they like hockey and say eh alot. Who knew.

We went to a bunch of great resturants, one of my favourties was the Horney Toad in Carefree (that name makes you want to go there) anyway the sign on the post before you entered said dont bring your guns in , so we didnt.

I got some of the magazines that I read at Barnes and Noble and was very happy as we dont get all of these, and we watched the Proposal on DVD, the only thing we watched all week.  Who has time for tv when there is shopping, talking and eating to do.

I loved the picture of the old lady, and had to put it in the journal......Well one thing left to tell you, my favourite store of all time is the Container Store, I go in and the lady working on the till is from Edmonton.  That was about the 3 time we meet someone living there from our hometown.  I think it is the Canadian destination for retirements.  Anyway back the container store, I went looking for a case that hold 24 letters and found it......i could have bought the whole store.  I have a thing for containers, paper, pens,......

She's back in the groove....

Hi, got back late Friday night, and needed the weekend to recover from my holiday.  I had alot of fun times and I am all tired out from them.  We shopped till we dropped, stayed up way to late, slept in and ate way to much..  I must have gained a ton.  But well worth it.  We laughed and talked, and told each other all our troubles and of course everyone agreed with you, because that is what friends are for.  I did a little art in my travel journal, and some updating.  I love working in it.  So here are some of the pages in the journal.

This picture to the right was my friends back yard, I used pencil and colored felts in it, that is all I had taken.  The next day the neighbour took down that tree you see, so I have captured it forever in my drawing.  To the left are some sketches of some of the things I saw and did, Margarita nights, cactus, and Dawgs (sandals) which are Canadian by the way, which we found in the flea market in Phoneix and I bought some.  Not in Canada where they would have been cheaper, but I am supporting the American economy.

This little nude number to the right, is a little  idea I had for a ATC that I have entered into for a swap.  The swap is suppose to be the Karma Sutra, but tasteful, how the hell do you do the Karma Sutra with taste.  I had lots of ideas but none I could have put on a ATC.  To the left my fav resturant on the trip, and underneath,a picture I found in the trash outside , which you cant see, but just imagine.  Close you eyes now and imagine garbage.. More pages tommorow.  Now got to go and get back into normal...you know housework

Feeling the Heat

Another page from my travel journal.  Well doing a bunch of last minute things.  Like packing, etc.  I am trying not to pack to much.  Do you pack to much and then never wear most of what you pack.  So I packed then I reduced the things I put in. Then the shopper came up to see what I was taking, and put the things back that I took out, she said I need those things.  So she left and then I took them out again.  I am packing for warm weather.  Here you need your mittens and hat, it is so cold.
Tonight we are out for dinner with the mothers, then home early as the plane leaves quite early in the morning.  So hopefully will talk to you all from Arizonia.  If not I will talk to you when I get back.

travel journal part 1

When I first got this book at the dollar store, I was going to use it mainly for sketching with
charcoal pencil womens faces.  I am not very good at them so I practice while watching TV.  But then I decided to make a little travel journal for myself to use while away in Phoenix.  So this is what I decided on.  The size was ok, so I left the faces and added on to the book.  Now I know the book looks not that great now.  But I have not gone yet, so I will show you when I get back.  These are just  a few of the pages to give you a glimpse of what I am using as a travel journal.

Fly -Theme Thursday ATC -with Bird

I have been experimenting with cardboard and painting it for backgrounds.  I then decided to cut it up into ATC size and see if I could use it.  This is ATC I had just finished and fit perfectly into Theme Thursday Challenge.  All hand drawn, with Pitt colored pens, background painted with acrylics, and Fly was a stencil, that I colored over with Pitt Pens.  Bird hand drawn and colored with pitt pens as well.
An experiment with the pens to see if I liked them, and I do.

A little of this and that.....

Me at age 8 I think, wearing plaid pants and a little pop top, did you ever have a pop top.

Hello blog readers how are you all doing. Well its 8:30 am here. I have just come in from walking devil dog, the sky is overcast, there are rain showers and its dull and dreary. Its a good day to stay in cuddle up with the fireplace on some soft music and read a book, or work in my art journal., or make cookies. Oh so many choices ,I think the cookies are going to be a no - just because I don’t need the calories. Well this week is all about getting ready to hit the skyways on Saturday and jet off to Phoenix. Yes this girl is going away with 3 friends. To shop till we drop, and just have a great time. I am hoping that I get to see my blog pal Toni . One of my friends that is coming, has just bought a house there, so we are staying there. Pictures when I come back for sure. She is taking her laptop so I might even get to post while there. The weather which I have been keeping track of is hot....oh to live in a place where no snow or below zero temperatures occur in October.

Other than that as you can see I have been doing a little bit of art, some ATC's. In one of the groups that I belong to, we had an ATC exchange, the theme was summer and I just got my gals cards in the mail yesterday, and they are beautiful, I will post them tomorrow. My first exchange, no longer a virgin ATC-er.

I am not taking any art to do on the mini vacation. But I have been making myself a little travel journal thing. I got this book at the dollar store, they have everything and have been getting it ready. I will showcase a few of the pages before I leave. Well I have to get ready and get on the hunt for a new bathing suit which is my favorite activity...(lol) not .  I know one thing it will be black, more slimming right. Talk to you all soon.,

Inspiration Friday- Germs/Lulu wears a mask

This is my entry for germs.  Now my daughter a couple of months ago went thru the Hong Kong airport and told me that everyone in the airport had masks on .  Lately in the paper there has been a ongoing debate if
the hockey players should be shaking hands or hugging, they want it to stop, because of the germs.

Think Monday-Think ATC - I love Paris in the Springtime

Favourite big city is Paris, hands down. I have been working on this one, when the challenge for the ATC came up. I was not going to use this one, because I really not to happy with the way it turned out. But I fixed it up a little and here it is. Hand drawn by me, the image of lady I think was from Dover, which I turned to black and white and painted.  I have included another ATC that I did the image was from scrapbook paper I believe and the background was painted by me, stamp was with the paper.  The round circle stamp was one that I had and says original on.  I also layer other paper on before painting.

The House of the Rising Sun...Mixed media Monday

On Mixed Media Monday  http://mixedmediamonday.wordpress.com/, it is all about Music.  So this is what I did on a ATC.  This happens to be my favourite song by the Animals.  If you have not heard it go to You Tube and have a listen, you will love it.  This is my take on the song.

Song and Lyrics by the Animals
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one

My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new bluejeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans

Now the only thing a gambler needs
s a suitcase and trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk

Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun

Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one
