Pastels

I would love to be able to create portraits of people and make them look like them. I need much more practice as you can tell from this pastel. First time I have used pastels, the jury is out if I like them or not. Went to my fav store today IKEA bought a dresser for a bedroom, my daughters, she had one but decided it was to old (she paid for it) and a few other goodies, cant leave there without buying something. This week did not enter any challenges, Inspire me Thursday I could not think of one thing. Well I should go clean up a bit, talk to you tommorow.

  1. I love pastels. They are BY FAR my favorite medium!! So messy. You may try using a paper with some tooth. Even a fine grit sandpaper. It may change the way you feel about pastel. Or not.

  2. I have oil pastels and the other kind and I'm not real thrilled with either one of them....but that's just me.

  5. Not bad for a first attempt.. I'm not sure I like pastels - too messy for me..isnt that terrible to say? But you know what I mean! I am hopeless at drawing people and in fact drawing anything from scratch I find hard! Coincidnece...they have opened a huge new Ikea store here and we went to see it last friday bought stuff I love the place and had to go back yesterday to get stuff we didnt buy on friday. Stayed and had lunch as its a fair drive from our house.

I bought coathangers, and two ouside lights called JOD I wonder if we have the same stuff as USA and Canada in our stores.

  6. Don't we all love Ikea???? I don't know anybody who doesn't love to go there! Pastels are fun, I did use them a lot couple of years back .....but only for abstract painting, the portrait thing is to stressful for me, but I wish I could do it too, I guess just not my talent and that is ok. Have fun playing around with the pastels, smiles, Anke ;)
