Off the Beaten Path....Road Trip

You have not heard from me because I have been on a girls road trip.My friend Sandy lives in beautiful British Coloumbia (she just moved there in November. Because of the possible bad weather in the Rockies she left her baby volkswagon here. So we drove the baby back. For those of you who do not know Canada, there is Alberta (where I live, the rockies then BC. We did encounter bad weather road wise, but slogged on. Some Demon truck drivers, and some amazing scenery in the Rockies.These mountain sheep were on the side of the road into Jasper. We did stop to do a little shopping, bad roads do not deter shopping. This is what you see when you get out of the car.We slogged on and arrived at her mountain hideaway at about 7:00 PM. We did not stop talking the whole way we have been friends for at least 30 years and know each other well.They get alot of snow in the winter because they are in the mountains, but not cold temperatures. Summer is hot and sunny. This is the house my first visit here. I was amazed at the beauty that surrounds it. In we go for the visit I will let the pictures talk for themselves.

These pictures do not do justice to the house, its beautiful. I call it the mountain lodge. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel. I slept down on the lower floor. I forgot to take pictures of that but I did take pictures of what I woke up to each day.
Everything I needed was provided, from shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, puff. To a bathrobe in the door scented with Lavender. All and All I had a great time, with two great people and cant wait to visit again. Its now back to reality, laundry, cooking and cleaning. I did no art there, but I needed the break, it was very restful and I feel refreshed and ready to get going. See you all tommorow.

Just Burn Baby Burn

I got the fever, the stencil fever. Last night all I did while watching TV was cut stencils. I have been collecting stencils forever. I dont know why I feel I must also make them. But it is very relaxing to me. I use a stencil burner as you can see, I think it is way easier than using an exacto knife. Of course I have slipped and messed up a few, quite a few. Today I took my mother to her friends funeral. Gosh I hate funerals. It was very sad, she was 91 and lived a great life. I would be happy to
live till 91....then its now to the physio therapist for a little needle love. Then he puts his hands on me (ah) and manuplates my back, then a little heat. This is really helping me.

The toes have it...

Dont you feel better when your toes are painted...I do. I like red nail polish the redder the better. Then I like to walk around the house getting all to admire the toes. Because this polish stays on until its all off. I dont paint my own toes, so when I go get a pedicure thats when the toes get painted. and I dont go that often. This weekend has been
okay. The weather did not cooperate it snowed and was cold. I worked on cutting stencils but no art. But the new week is upon us and I feel good vibes coming my way. So lets talk on Monday and see how your weekend was and I want all the details, yours cant be as boring as mine.

A rose is a rose

Well just came back from getting my haircut. I feel better about me now. When my hair is a mess I feel like a mess. So yesterday pedicure, today hair, who knows what tommorow will hold. I painted this awhile ago, in watercolour, cheap watercolour and I always liked the way it turned out, the colour I mean. So I quess you dont need to spend a ton of money to get a nice result. I am in a bit of an art slump,,but still plugging away. No materpeices are coming out of my studio. I did sign up for an on-line 40 bucks (cheap) at dispatch from la (see sidebar)my linky thing I cannot get to work. Well thats it for now talk to you later.

Lee announces the arrival of Spring early

No its not March 21....but I want spring to come. I am sick to death of this winter weather which never seems to go away. I want to wear flip flops or to us oldies thongs...I want to feel air on my bare legs. I want to sit on the deck and complain its to hot. I want all those things and I want them now. On a brighter note I finished #2 kilmt picture for Gary Reefs challenge cant post it here, its a nude its suppose to be of you. But really who is going to paint themselves nude at my age. The boobs sag down to your knees etc. So I painted a edited me, kind of a younger me, not all nude no face showing, hidden in the curtains, a hint of breast and just the hip area.
Other than that I am out today weather and all to do a few errands and then home to finish the clean up, the painting is done and I am putting my house back to order. Friday hubby is out of town all day and I am staying in my PJ's and watching a marthon of Battlestar Galatica tv shows ending at night with the last one forever. Bet you didnt know I am a geek......talk to you all later.

Another year older but not wiser....

St. Pa tricks day, and its my birthday today.....I am not aging anymore so I don't really celebrate my birthday. But my family insists on it,because the shopper works tonight we went out last night for dinner. This morning I was spoiled rotten the hubby and the shopper went together and bought me a Betsy Johnson bag, money , tickets etc. I am going on a road trip starting next Wednesday with a friend for about 5 days and am looking forward to that. Today in honor of my birthday I am not going to do anything except stuff for me. When the painter gets here I am off to go for Breakfast with my mother. Then shopping, Starbucks for a little journalling and art. Home to the studio for some time with my new supplies I will be bringing home. and a I think we will watch a movie tonight. So all and all will be a good do nothing day......will report back tomorrow how much of that do nothing I accomplished.

zendoodling....

I did not create much art this weekend. We ended up working around the house, putting things away etc. But last night while not a creature was stirring I was doodling (zen doodling my first) and this is it. It is really relaxing and I for sure will do it again. Well gotta go the painter should be here any minute ....

A little of this and that

What have I been up to. Lets see the painting is still in progress. He has done the main floor, so we have been putting things back and getting rid of stuff. The painter starts on the second floor on Monday...said he should be done by Tuesday. I have been working in my art journal...making stamps. I have gathered all the supplies needed to make the art
journal and going to start on that on Monday. Will take pictures on my steps....
Other than that we had nice weather today and hopefully spring is here.

Sofie Talks....call the star magazine

Here are 10 things about me nobody asked for:

1. I am a very nice dog, I am almost 2 years old. Fully trained and spoiled rotten.

2. I often just have to give my momma a certain look and she will give me any treat
I desire.

3. I don't like it when my family does not pay attention to me, I often will ask
them politely to get off the computer, they can tell that I am getting upset when I
rub my toy against their legs

4. My momma thinks that I like her singing, I don't know how to tell her that
she can't sing or dance.

5. I have elected myself queen of our street. I stand on guard at our front
window at aleast 4-5 hours a day, praying someone will drive or walk by
so I can give them a good barking at, even if they cant hear me.

6. I have a few friends I play with when my momma takes me to daycare. I have
one really close friend a golden retriever named Bob . He is my favourite and
we play all day long. I need to find some friends in the neighbourhood so
we can have play dates over at my house. Momma always says one dog is
enough to look after even though the shopper said we should get a brother
to play with.

7. I don't like driving in the car. Every time we go somewhere other than
doggy daycare, its somewhere I don't want to be the VET. I try to get away out
the door but my momma always catches me.

8. I am on a constant diet. I wish they would just let me eat what I want.

Well so long for now.. hope you learned alot about me. The shopper told momma this
would be boring.

klimt reworked....and misc dull information

I have posted this before, but I reworked it for Garys challenge. It had to have a mosiac somewhere on it. I fixed the arm, and added some more colour. Have been busy with the painter, that sounds like I have been busy.,..;.but no he's not my type. Apparently he is sofie's because she won't leave him alone (sofie is a dog). I had to put her on a lease all
day long. Finally we went to the basement, I worked on this and she cried by the stairs. There is a name for girls like her..... tonight I am working in the art journal, so hopefully something for you tommorow. Sofie is off to doggy daycare tommorow and I am going to the studio.

I am woman hear me roar.....

I saw this little baby the other day at office depot. I wanted it for the studio so went in on Saturday and bought it.
I also put it together...very proud of myself. Now I have something I bought at IKEA some months ago I am going to try and tackle tomorrow. I have been busy all weekend trying to get ready for the painter. We are having the inside of the house painted starting on Wednesday. Yes it is nice that we do not have to do it. But you have to get ready for the painter, take pictures of walls, drapes, move furniture etc.

Taxes, sketches and carvings....

I have been busy gathering up the taxes for the shopper, my mum, me and ken. The tax man aka hubby did the taxes last night. But i get it all ready. So I have been doing that, stamp carving a little as you can see. from the photos. It is very relaxing carving I do it well watching tv.



Also been sketching in my art book, now going to go back over it and paint, crayons etc.
By the way that is not my butt....but I wish it was.

10 things about lee.....

I have been tagged by Toni at to tell 10 things about me so here goes:

1. I am a science fiction tv fan, I love Battlestar Galatica, I will not go out
on Friday night until it is over.

2. I did not learn to drive until I was 22 years old. My friend ML taught me
to drive.

3. I have high blood pressure and take medication for it. Heart attacks run
in my family, mother and sister.

4. My favourite food on earth has to be homemade french fries, salted with ketchup
on the side. I do not eat them very often see #3....has to be really a special
reason.

5. I do not drink coffee or tea. But I do drink Diet Coke all day long, starting
when I get up.

6. I love to go to the movies in the afternoon by myself. Nobody in the theatre.

7. I was afraid of all dogs and cats, until we got our dog. Now I will touch
and pat any dog or cat.

8. I am a good friend....I have 4 close friends I have had for over 30 years.

9. I am a better cook than a baker. I like to eat the baking hate to make it.

10. I am insecure about anything to do with my art....but arent we all.

Over at Gary Reef every month they do a new artist. This month it is Gustaf Klimt. Now old Gustaf liked his women, naked to paint, and then later he would put clothes on them. Isn't that just like a man.....he kind treated his women as objects typical..But he did do amazing work. He did a series in gold. So I was playing around in the studio on newsprint, and this is what I came up with. Needs work the arms are bad the hair is to long, etc etc but this was just a fast painting. No thinking just sketch and paint. Now he has a challenge to use paint and mosaics so I might try that challenge. Don't know yet, there pretty good over there. It is kind of indimadating showing your dorky work compared to them. But I like to lurk around and look.

What do you use to art journal in....

What size of art journal do you use. What kind of paper does it have. I use this moleskin for mine. Not because its trendy. But it can take a licking and keep on ticking ( I have always wanted to say that). It uses folder cardstock in it. Will stand up to any abuse, paint, markers, watercolour, acrylic, and not bleed. I am happy with this one. But I am going to make my own. I have phoned every place in town and tried to get waxed linen thread nobody sells it. Finally I ordered off the web, wanted to go Canadian since our money is so bad compared to the USA (every dollar you save can be spent on more art supplies). Found one in BC and is in the mail. Should get it this week. I am going to start easy. Journalgirl on the side bar made one in a half an hour I am going to try that one. Check it out and let me know what you think those of you who have made journals. I would like to put some watercolour paper in mine as well.
