The tale of the Mosquito

 

so far this spring, the weather has not been great,

a little bit of snow, rain, and sun.  Perfect

breeding grounds for the dreaded mosquito.

Here where I live, we have a short

spring, then summer, then its fall.  So you like

to enjoy your summer nights out on your deck, wherever

but this dreaded bug does not allow it.  You can

smother yourself with bug spray, use citronella,

but it seems to like anything.  Anyway this

is my drawing of the bug.

Another bird another day, I made this bird last

night, and decided to show it two ways.

The first one, just a peek with my background

the second one is with a background from

photoshop elements, I like it both ways,

Spring has sprung

 

 

today is all about enjoying this sunshine

helping the shopper with her planting

putting the deck cover on

bbq steak

and enjoying spring

facebook art

 

did you know that I am on facebook,

I don't have a million friends

and I am not on there every minute of the day

I don't do intstagram, or twitter

I am very old school tech

I did join facebook under my non married name

so if any of my old friends wanted to find

me there could.  Have they, no, have I found

any of them only 1. I also set it up so that my blog, updates on my facebook page

which I found to be very cool.   Anyway I also joined a few

art groups which I enjoy.  The one art group I really like is run

by April Cole it called The studio here is the link

they have swaps and challenges and everyone is

very supportive no drama allowed.  Anyway the whole point of this story

is , the one challenge was to make a little book with places to put stuff,

April did a little video on how to make them, and then you signed up and

were assigned a partner.  Anyway April Cole was my partner, and this is

what I received today from her, very cool, you could keep anything in here

hand out business cards, etc. Also a picture of what was included.

So if you want to join, you have to join Facebook, I was weary of it,

but its working for me

working with stamps

Hello out there in blogland

today I wanted to show you a new stamp I found

Donna Downeys new face stamp

but you know somehow its doesn't look like

the stamp at all, I managed to change it to

my style , So you see you can change the

look and feel of your page if you use stamps.

Mini Zine Peek

 

this is the front page and page 1 of the mini zine

I made for a trade.  Its about my vacations every

summer with my parents.  We didn't have very

much money back then, my dad was in the

Air Force, my mom was a part  time waitress and

they had 2 little girls, 2 years apart.

But every year they scrapped up enough

money to go on a camping vacation.  We

started going first in a tent, then they

bought this tiny little trailer, and they

called it the delee, my sister was delta

and lee for me.  We always went to

the same place Rosen Lake in British Columbia,

a beautiful camping spot, we always got one

right by the water.  We went there for many

years, usually with another couple with kids.

We always left really early in the morning, my

mom always packed a lunch.  We always had

some sort of car problem, us or the other

people we went with.  But we always had

a great time, and had great memories.

the ideas flowed so that was good

tonight it chicken and pasta a new recipe

the making of a mini zine

one of there swaps is a mini zine.  This is the second time they have done this and
if I participate the second time I would have made a mini zine.  I don't like to fully commit to something until I actually think I can do it, and it might not be crap.  So
the first thing was try to think of something to make a mini zine about.  So while swimming today my best thinking place, my mind drifted back to when I was much
younger and my family went on our annual vacation, there was always drama,
fun, something broken down, so lets just say lots for a zine.  So on that note
I quickly and I mean quickly sketched  things that might go in the zine.  Now
I have folded up the zine, and am now going to make a mock up of what it might
look like.  If I am happy with it, then and only then will I sign up for the
zine exchange. What is your process when you sign up for something, do you jump in and commit right away or do you just think about it.


The colour of india

 

Have I ever been to India the answer is no

but I love there colour pallet

deep pinks and yellows, and

that is what I tried to capture here

though my elephant looks like she

is malnourished, I should have

beefed her up a bit, oh well.

I am back in the rhythm of making

postcards, I love making small art

do you like making small art?

It was a hell of a night

 

 

you know I have to create

even when I don't feel like and I sit down

just to watch TV, I have to create

something a small drawing, a little

collage, something.  Do you ever feel like that.

Take last night all hell broke loose around

here the hubster left the bathroom sink running,

and flooded the bathroom, which of course

then dripped down the wood windows and

onto my hardwood floors, and of course

the ceiling is dripping, I have buckets

everywhere, but I had to create

and this is what came out

 

 



Oh happy day.....

today I have been to the airport and dropped friends off

the shopper is getting her arm re x-rayed and then we

are having lunch

been working on a art idea drawing sketches like a crazy woman

been looking up organizing ideas on pinterest to support my organizing OCD

loving the sunny weather and sipping wine on the deck

I like doing collage but I need to find new subject matter

 

the base of this collage is a deli bag from the hospital

that I found at the hospital when hubby was in

I cant find deli paper anywhere in my city

then way back I had cut out a falcon

so I decided to put him in my collage

but changed him up to a she as you can see

Then I need a tree which I cut from some

packaging that I had received a stamp in.

added some text from a book

my bird that I made a copy of

(always make a copy of your stuff for your collages)

some flowers that I had used a stamp on ,

on more deli bags (ok more than one happened

to slip into my purse while waiting for my order)

white out, and oh yeah I gellied printed the

deli bag first.

I am off to the shoppers for a nice mothers day dinner

I got a Fuji instamatic camera from her

I am going to the studio to try and make some art

I walked the dog nice weather

I cleaned out my car of the winter mess

I am wearing capris

this art is all mine except I used photoshop

to put the birds on top of each other

so that's it for today

Crappy Art

 

it all started with pink and orange

which you cant see

but its there

then I used Julie Baltzer Stencil

and changed it up\

added some flowers

to much white

and this is what came out

not what I expected

and I don't like it

Girls gone wild

 

This looks a little like me.  All my ladies have a

little bit of me in them, I have blue eyes, minus the grey I

have brown hair.  But I don't wear bow ties.

Today I am having a day with my blog friend Gayle.

We are doing lunch, then something arty we

haven't decided yet.  Could just be in the

studio painting pages, or at the Art Gallery, or

at the garden centre.  Girls gone wild, that's

us (lol).



Band Hats

 

 

today was all about

helping the shopper because she broke her arm at target

she went shopping on Saturday morning, and they

had waxed the floors the night before, and used

the wrong product and the floor was slippery

they didn't have any signs up warning the

customer, and the shopper went down

and broke her arm

so I am trying to help her with her household duties

and stuff

so that's been my focus since Saturday

the smell of coffee

its all about coffee
as many of you know I don't drink coffee at all, don't like the taste
but that doesn't stop me from making art about it
I challenged myself not to use any paint or anything
so all I used was black sharpie pen and whiteout pen
and color pallet that was to be used this month
I think the dog I named him George likes to
balance a cup of java on his nose because he likes the smell
that's my story and I am sticking to it

YOU KNOW YOUR AN ARTIST WHEN......

 

you find a piece of paper on the ground that has been there all winter

and your heart starts to race

 

when you hear about a hoarder who's house was being emptied

and wonder if you could have used any of that stuff

when you have more drink coasters than the
local bar

when your multitasking, making supper, painting on a page,
doing the laundry, and looking for collage pieces all at the
same time

when you finally tell someone I am an artist
when they ask you what you do
