You have come along way baby....

there was a comment left yesterday, about how far I have come as an artist.  And you know she is completely right.  The other day I was looking at my first ever journal, and I even cringed at it.  But you know what I might have cringed but I put it out there, bad or good so I pat myself on my back.  I managed to find somewhat of a style along the journey, how much I like color, I think my style might lean towards illustrative.  How I like to try all different techniques, did I mention how much I like color (lol).  So I want to know do you go back and look at your art from when you first started and see how much you have grown?

Shes long gone...

yep that's right she gone on her road trip
and she will be back in the saddle next
Friday.  I am the guest blogger until then.
I have begged her and begged her for this
chance and here it is.  So stay tuned for
some whining, some sniffling and some fun.

A few of my favourite things....

Last night while watching TV, I sat sketching and
this is what came out, and I only used
markers.  I thought that since this was Friday,
I would tell you a few of my very favourite art supplies.
I know you are all on the edge of your seat and have
been wondering what I use (lol).  So here it goes:

I use markers a lot I like the intensity of colour
it gives, its portability, so my favourite ones are
PERMAPAGUE, I used to get them
at Michaels but cant find them anymore,
so my art store carries them. I have all colours.

My favourite black pen is
PILOT PERMABALL PEN (M)
this baby writes over anything

Favourite gluestick
Alymers Purple Glue

Favourite watercolour markers
Tombow Acid Free

This is my favourite white pen that really turns white
Pentel Correction Pen
Second choice Signo uniball pen

These are a few of my favourites I share more later,
what are you favourites?

The interior life .....

Another page in my documented planner
sometimes I go with the prompts (which I am way behind on)

or sometimes I just go my own way.  I love Giraffes, and
have been practicing drawing them, so I can get better
at them.  I am improving.....Well the kitchen reno
is going slowly, we finally decided on the tile
for the backsplash in the kitchen, so now we can
order both the granite and the tile.  The same
company installs.  Now its just sinks and taps.  So
many choices, after while, you don't even look
anymore, you take 5 of your favourites and
whittle them down.  I told the hubsters,
that is it, no more looking.

the smell of coffee

the month of Mays challenge over at http://mix-it-monthly.blogspot.ca/
its all about coffee
as many of you know I don't drink coffee at all, don't like the taste
but that doesn't stop me from making art about it
I challenged myself not to use any paint or anything
so all I used was black sharpie pen and whiteout pen
and color pallet that was to be used this month
I think the dog I named him George likes to
balance a cup of java on his nose because he likes the smell
that's my story and I am sticking to it

elle

Meet Elle, she just happened, she far from perfect
I had stuck a napkin with elephants in my
sketch book awhile ago, and had this circus looking
half frame, and stuck it in awhile ago, and then
last night I thought I needs a funky elephant,
so this is my version of funky (lol) the feet
are not right everything about her is just about
wrong, but she is my creation, so I think she
is funkalisous( is that even a word)

Just a little trial run....

I don't know if I told you or not, that I am in a
circle journal exchange.  The journals are amazing
as well as the artists, a little intimidating.  So the latest
journal is so beautiful, and her theme is Fools and/or divinities.
So instead of mucking up her journal I decided to try
a dry run in my journal and this is what I came up with this is fools.
I learned a few things I am not going to do.  First I am
going to use stamps for the words, 2nd instead of
cutting the elephants out of painted paper, I am going
to draw them and paint them, the jesters will be a
little different and I might not use such in your face
colors, thou that is my style.  When I get the
original page done I will show you how
it turns out. I also did divinities, which I will show you on Monday
I had no trouble with that one

Hoot Hoot it's Friday

I love owls, I love drawing them my way,
I love using black pen, and white out on them,
and a little brown marker.  Its good practice to
draw everything you can think of , don't just draw it
once draw it so many times you can see it in your sleep,
once you have got it done, you wont forget it.
Lee's bit of wisdom for Friday (lol)
Have a great one,

Rain rain go away

Well today I was going to go to the zoo, to sketch, but we had a huge snowfall, then rain, then freezing , so its icy and I am not going.  We dont have a huge zoo, quite a small one.  I have not been there in years, so thats on my list to do this week.  I am trying to stretch myself creatively.  I have been taking that Strathmore Art Class, its free you should take it.  Anyway they have a great painter showing us how he paints and layers, and I am excited to try it.  Its his style, but feel I could tweek and make it my own, so I might give that a try today, as I am already working on a canvas, and was stuck, so I have some ideas. Other than that, I dont know I will see what the day holds.  I had a really good day at the library, sketched lots, read some amazing art books.  What are you doing today?

Good things in my life

Click on picture to appear larger

Well thanks for all the nice comments on the Mosaic  for those of you who want to know I used big huge labs to make the mosiac.  It was not perfect but it was free.  Well today March 2, I am going to library to spend my afternoon, and just sketch and look at art books, that's for me.  I happen to love the library and don't spend enough time there, it is so relaxing and quiet, and peaceful.   Tonight we are going out for supper with a friends, so no cooking no clean up, good thing two.  What are you doing today.
