Gesso Girl

Over at Jen Wordens site (see link on the side) her weekly challenge was using a fashion magazine use gesso and black pen, so here is mine. I loved doing this one, this image was all brown and oranges and I think it looks really kind of now looking. This was like a lady from way back when I forget what she was adverstising but it was in my Vogue book. Today was a clean the house and get things done day. I am afraid to move the house is so clean, now if only magically it would stay clean and tidy. You would like that 3 people and 1 puppy would not mess it up. Well should go, no news around here, when I have to tell you I cleaned the house, it means there must be something sadly lacking in this life.

  1. I took a look at the challenge, but I never use gesso. I saw it in the art shop the other day and thought of you using it and others off course, but I am yet to discover it! I do like the effect you have created with it here. Looking good!

  2. Hi Lee,

This piece is really beautiful and the technique sounds interesting. I think I will give it a try.

  3. This is a great challenge, I'd never thought of trying anything like this. I like your piece a lot and yes, can't imagine it coming out of a fashion magazine, it looks like a renaissance lady.

Good job Lee! And Krissie, you can always use regular white paint - the gesso just sticks more easily to the glossy paper. Heck you can use ANY colour paint or marking pen for that matter! :D

  7. I did laundry today, so you are not alone. You are inspiring in your ability to continue to try new things. I applaud you for that!
