A tip on storing words.....

 

I am going to tell you how I store my words, or saying's that I

find in magazines or books or whatever.  Sometimes you

just need a quote or a word or a saying.  So what I do

is every time I am looking through anything magazine, flyer whatever

I am looking for words, sayings etc.  When I see them, I cut them,

and store them in a box, and when I have enough, I glue

about 5 to 10 on a piece of paper, scan it, and store on my

computer as words to use in my art.  Then I don't have look

thru the box sorting words, I just look on my computer

for the stuff I want, cut and copy.

Not my usual in your face color pallet, but this is an oldie, I thought

I would recycle up on the blog.  Do you do that, recycle things on the blog.

I have been working on my project runway girls, at a fast and furious pace, and stay turned for a new one on Friday.  But this week a great artist and beautiful painter is doing

Have you ever had a dream that you know for sure will never ever come true, but it still nice to think about and you gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.  I will tell you mine if you tell me yours.  Okay nobody in the world knows about this so don't tell anyone.  (lol) I would love to have a cover on the New Yorker, I love the covers of that magazine, they make my heart sing.  Okay now that I have told mine, I need to know yours.

Its Friday and its Lees version of Project Runway Canada

 

Welcome to Project runway Canada.  The designers have been busy

sewing and fitting there garments for the first Challenge, which

is design an outfit for a plus size woman.  I seen some of the designs and

they are fabulous, the first one on the runway is an outfit designed

by ARTYLEE a fabulous colorful creation.  So without further

ado lets get this party started.

 

ARTYLEE wants the women of Canada to know

pattern of any size and

bright color can be worn by

everyone.

Next Fridays challenge will be   pink and orange.  So stay tuned

for that.

You know I did this drawing ages ago, on cheap lined paper

as you can see I even used paper that had writing on it,

it was only going to be this little doodle, and it

turned out to be one of my very favourite things I have done.

Had I used great paper, and wanted to

produce something like this, it would not have happened.

Sometimes there are happy accidents.

So since I have no news to impart today, I thought I would give you an update

on my renos.  You would think that a person could just go in and choose

tiles, tapes, sinks, granite etc. in just a little while.  While I am here

to dispel that myth, it takes along time.  Finally we decided on the granite, and the tile and the grout for the walls.  The man came and took a template, next we are in

the process of choosing sinks 3 and 3 sets of new taps which should be

finalized today, and then about 6 more weeks and then the work commences.

I just want it to be over and it has not started yet.  I am no decorator, so

making these choices is agony for me, wondering if I made the right choice. It

costs so much money you don't want to make a mistake.  Any way when all

is said and done I will take pictures.

Spawning in the Adams River

 

I thought I would tell you some of the

highlight's of my trip.  Now my friend wouldn't call this

a highlight, but at about 2.00 am one morning

her dog started barking, and it was a

black bear lumbering down her driveway to

the lower acreages that have fruit trees.  Her house

is the path that they take to get to the trees.  Now my

friend doesn't see that as a highlight, and If I lived

there nor would I.  The second highlight was

seeing the salmon spawning on the Adams River.

Every year the salmon whose time it is, get

like a calling to mate, and somehow when they

are swimming deep in the Ocean, they know

they have to go back to where they were

first spawned.  After they have laid there eggs

in the gravel of the Adams River they die.  They

float along the river so that the bears, deer and whatever else

can eat them, and the cycle goes on.  You are not allowed to fish

in this river while all this is happening.  Now my friend

says when its at its peak you cant see the river for all the

red salmon and the smell is awful.  We were there a few

days early,  but still a sight to see.  Ok that is my

science lecture for today.

If these walls could talk

 

Lately I have been obsessively drawing walls, old walls, fort walls,

that happens to me. I want to learn to draw something really

good, and I draw them over and over again, city buildings, birds,

faces, and I feel only by drawing them so much will they improve.

Take this drawing in my journal, it is much better than the very\

first one, so I am getting better. Do you do anything like this

I am home and missed you all,

hope you enjoyed the guest blogger, she had

such a big responsibility she is passed out on the floor, sleeping

her days away again.

I had a great time and will miss my friend

but we are going to Phoenix in a few weeks time.

I did lots of sketching and lots of ideas popped up, so that was

good, the weather was perfect, just the day I left it started to

rain so that was great.  Ok as you know when you are away

you have a million things that need to be done, so I

better get doing them.

You havent seen the last of me

 

well she's home and she all tired.  What's that about, where's the

new toy I thought she bring me.  Where all the oh next time I

go away your coming with me.  Sure she says she missed me

but she kissed the hubster first.....I heard her telling the

hubster that she is going to Phoenix in October, and I

guess I wont be going on that trip either, but I might get

to blog again, hope so.....

Trying out a new do....

 

 

Seems like I just get into the groove of posting here, and she comes home.

Today I went and had a spa day, hair, teeth, toes, and a little

one on one with a male poodle, he was a little stuck up

and wouldn't give me the time of day, you know those

French poodles, but he was ollala good looking.  He

wouldn't even sniff me, so I took hot self off and talked to

a  to a tall dark lab.

Your right I do look a few pounds heavier.

She's gonna be mad, as I am on a strict diet

because Madeline the vet says I am overweight.

But doesn't a girl get to indulge once in awhile. after

all the hubster is the one giving me the diet cookies.

I just give this sad little look and out come the

cookies.  Must try this on her.....



depression hurts everyone...

 

I miss her, nobody walks me like her, lets me

sniff every whiff of grass, smell every pole so I

know if my friends have been by.  She phoned

and said she was having fun, and she

didn't ask to talk to me, what's that about.

I even put on my new outfit but didn't

lift my spirits, until Max the wiener dog down

I have had all night to think about her going without me and I am

peeded off.  I could have packed in a minute , said my goodbyes

and been in that car.  But no she just gives me the brush off with

a few kisses and a see you soon.  Well she left me with the

hubster and the sister, so I am going to make the best of it.  Pouting gets alot

of treats around this house.

Addiction...and road update

 

I am reading a terrific book, called All Fall Down

by Jennifer Weiner

its about a blogger  the original reason I picked it up,who is addicted to Oxy and other pain relieve drugs and it all started because she hurt her back .  I cant put it down it is riveting in its process how the addiction takes hold,

  I understand how addiction can happen.  I have a friend

who has an addiction ( and really this friend is not me for sure).  It

affects everyone and everything in their lives.  I highly recommend this book,

if you like to read great fiction books this one is for you.

 

On a lighter note I am off on a road trip with my friend, going thru the

Rocky Mountains, and on to her house, which is a lake community in another

province for some down time, and fun.  No husbands, no kids, no dog for me.  The rest of the time I am away I will have a guest blogger so stay tuned starting tomorrow.

When someone asks me what I do, I tell them I am a artist and a  blogger.

Then the questions come, dependent upon the age of

the asker, what is a blog? why do you do it? where do you show your art?

what kind of art do you do?

I blog and I show my art on my blog, that's what I do.

 

 Where else could you show your art, or your craft, or your thoughts, or whatever and still remain as anonymous as you want to be but on your blog 

 

Where else could you be tolling away on your blog, and someone

come and offer you a deal to write a book (no it did not happen to me, still waiting lol)

.

Where else could you meet people from all over the world and call them friend

 

Where else could you read a blog that touches your heart.
Where else could you meet a group of likeminded women and not even have to go out of your house, get a recipe, a housecleaning tip, design ideas, see magical art I could go on and on.
Where else can you get critics on your art, or ask for ideas, or just wanna communicate your thoughts and ideas and get feedback.

 

That's why I am a blogger and proud to be one.

 



get happy.....

I have been really happy lately, the hubster is feeling better, and

life in general is not kicking me in the pants. 

Here is a little story of how I came by my name

now Lee on a girl is not really common, especially

spelled  the way it is.  Well my mother tells the

story, like this, this was back in the day

when apparently drinking did not affect

your baby, (lol) now we know what happened to me.

Anyway as she says she was in a "beer Parlour" have

a beer with my Dad, and they meet a (lady) who

name happened to be Lee, and that's how I got

my name.  My other sister's name was Delta,

not a common name either (was my dads mothers name)

and my other sister name is Vicki-Lynn (lol) sounds

like a country and western singer, my older sister

came up with that one.  So do you know

how your name came about.  My daughters name is Lyndsey,

my husband picked that one out, but her middle name

is Brydges which was my maiden name, which died

when my dad died.  So she said whenever she has

kids she will ensure one them has that name as

a middle name.....

Its a beautiful morning....

this tree looks like a zipper (lol). But as long as I had

fun drawing it right.  Its a beautiful day here, the hubster is going

out with friends to the football game tonight.  I am going

out to dinner with a friend, and today I am going to

enjoy the weather on the deck, and sketch.  What are you

doing today.

A few of my favourite things....

 

Last night while watching TV, I sat sketching and

this is what came out, and I only used

markers.  I thought that since this was Friday,

I would tell you a few of my very favourite art supplies.

I know you are all on the edge of your seat and have

been wondering what I use (lol).  So here it goes:

 

I use markers a lot I like the intensity of colour

it gives, its portability, so my favourite ones are

PERMAPAGUE, I used to get them

at Michaels but cant find them anymore,

so my art store carries them. I have all colours.

 

My favourite black pen is

PILOT PERMABALL PEN (M)

this baby writes over anything

Sweating the small stuff

well today I was doing my wifely duty and doing

a little bit of clean up.  The hubster is very good

about keeping things clean. I am making

Chili for dinner, its cool, and windy today,

so the fall food comes out.  Didn't find

the right exercise shirt, but managed to spend

an hour at the gym, and I even sweated, so

I must have been working hard. So what did

you do today?

sometimes I go with the prompts (which I am way behind on)

 

or sometimes I just go my own way.  I love Giraffes, and

have been practicing drawing them, so I can get better

at them.  I am improving.....Well the kitchen reno

is going slowly, we finally decided on the tile

for the backsplash in the kitchen, so now we can

order both the granite and the tile.  The same

company installs.  Now its just sinks and taps.  So

many choices, after while, you don't even look

anymore, you take 5 of your favourites and

whittle them down.  I told the hubsters,

that is it, no more looking.
