Making time for Me

Can you believe it today is July 19......summer is flying by and i haven't done all the things I want to do.  I don't want summer to rush by and not for me to enjoy the beauty of an early morning, or a late night on the deck just being.  God do I sound like a nut or what?  I am going to make a conscious effort from now to the end of August, to enjoy every sunny moment, every sunset.  The other day my friend and I were discussing our ages and really how much good time we have left So I want to savour every day I have left on this planet.  I don't want to be 85 and say I wish I had sat on the deck and just enjoyed the moment.  So this is my plan, I am going to be on the computer less, still posting on my blog and still checking my blogs, but not just picking up the computer because I don't know what else to do.  I am going to ensure that I sit on my deck every morning that it is sunny, read the paper at leisure in my jammies, and savour a diet coke, get dressed when I want to.  I am going to have lighter meals for dinner, (last night we had cold chicken, 4bean salad (from the deli) french bread, corn on the cob, fresh green salad.  Not a lot of work, and not alot of clean up, and eat on the deck. Tonight I am going out with my friend Gail or I met on the blog, and we are going to have dinner and do some window shopping.  Its time to make time for your friends.  So that is the start of me making time for me.  Any other suggestions?

  1. Sounds like a terrific plan! I love being outside on our balcony too. Do you ever do your artwork out there Lee? Sometimes I work outside and it seems like a lot of effort to drag everything "out" but it's SO nice. Hugs from germany, tj

  4. It's so easy to get carried away with things and forget to take some time out to do all the things that we enjoy but kind of don't feel like they are useful, like sitting in your garden and enjoying a warm evening or taking your time to really enjoy a meal that you're eating. All these things are so important and yet we rush around trying to do what we consider to be 'useful' work. I try to remind myself every week to switch off from everything, all the tasks, all the to-do lists, and just have some downtime to enjoy all the little things in life and I'm getting better at this all the time :)

  6. Great idea! We all get so attached to electronic gadgets that often we forget there's a real world just waiting for us. Enjoy your summer and your friends....and your life!

  9. I really like your art piece at the top of this post, and you have a great plan for savoring the days of summer. I was just reflecting today on how often I grab the computer and waste time looking at nothing...one more quick check of the email, one more silly article on Yahoo. I think your plan is a good one for making sure you don't let life just pass you by!
