This is the way I store my emphera (lets just call it what it is collage junk.  And by the way, this has been downsized.  Its tissure paper, old papers, old photos, you no stuff you cant part with (lol), and I dont make that many collages, I better get busy and use it up .....before I get to old and cant collage anymore. There has to be a better way to store this stuff, I have tried like stuff with like stuff, I have tried folders, a box, now I want to know how to do you store your collage junk?  I have the same problem with stencils, I have alot of them, that I cant part with, so now I need to store, at present they are in a box under my art table?  So how do you store yours.

  1. I store many of my stencils in those clear plastic sleeves that go in a 3-ring binder. The bigger ones are in a drawer with wax paper between them.

Paper storage is a challenge for me, too. Maybe I'll post some photos on my blog of what I've done.

  2. I just bought a huge file cabinet at a thrift store and I've trying to keep up with sorting and filing images. (one file for people, one file for food, etc.) I also sort my own painted pages by color. I can lift the folder right out and open it on my table to look through the contents. that being said, I still have two baskets on the floor just overflowing with recent acquisitions. I doubt I'll ever be totally "filed" but it's a start. (like Janet's idea for stencil storage. I might have to try that)

  3. good questions for which I have no answers. i was thinking about getting a few cute floral hatboxes that would look decorative when stacked and use them as storage. i probably won't but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

  4. I commented yesterday on the face and can see its not there :( anyway I tried for yrs to tame the paper mess and in the end put it into plastic crates like the ones in your photo- thats a good storage method!

  5. I gave up! I did sort my paper stuff by general type and stored them in clear boxes (also under my desk). I've found that I really enjoy looking through that stuff and I am often inspired to do something when I'm just shuffling through. Pieces will fly out of the box to actually be used because an idea has been sparked. I will be quick to admit that if I need a specific design for something I'm already working on, that can be a challenge. But, amazingly enough, it doesn't take me long to locate what I need because I'm so familiar with it from "playing"...unless I get distracted by looking and finding yet another idea! Know what I mean?

My stencils are in a plastic box similar to your thinner one in the picture. I try to remember to keep it lying flat as I had a problem one time when I stored the box upright. Somehow a thinner stencil crept under others and got wrinkled. I had a heck of a time getting that fixed.

  8. I store my paper in a couple different ways. Bigger pieces, magazine pages, etc are in hanging files by topic like Karen (people, food, vintage, text, etc). I have another set of hanging files for scrapbook papers by color. Then all those small snippets and pictures are in gallon zip locks by topic. I just recently started storing my stencils in sleeve protectors because they kept getting tangled in the drawer. Plus I never used them cuz I couldn't find the one I wanted. I saw a pinterest storage idea where the page protectors are put on opening rings (like key rings) and then hung on a paper towel holder so they can spin around. I have a pole lamp in my room for extra light and I'm trying it out by putting the rings around the pole lamp. I think it will work okay but I'm still looking for the perfect answer.....

  9. Lee, your 52 card pickup cards are wonderful. I just wrote about what I have discovered on how to store your stencils on my latest blog post. You can check it out there.
