Late Again

Three days of catch up..I am finding it harder and harder to find stuff for this journal. There really is only so much Christmas stuff you can go with. Well the 10 is all about people I love. I love the Christmas tree cut out of green craft paper and then I cut some photos to fit it. The ninth was about gathering of supplies to finish some christmas gifts for friends. The front page with Rudolf I made last year, I used some scrapbook paper, drew on Rudolf and I think I used pencil crayons. The 8th is all about keeping your receipts and the way we do it.

December 7, 2008

Today was about finishing some projects up. Getting the journal ready, making Sunday dinner. Visiting with my mom. I had fun creating these bears in the artic..do you feel the chill
Decided to do a Christmas project because I dont have enough to do. So this picture I am sewing the seams on three canvases
Painted the canvas, decided Santa was going to be the theme and used stencils for ho ho
I made one as a sample this one, I have to find some hangers for it. I dont know if I like it or not and I am not fishing for compliments. So I dont know if I will make the other two. There were for gifts..
The picture is a little blurry and you cant tell the size, I am going to meausure it tommorow.
This picture was taken today ...we have this event every year, and at the end all the christmas lights that they have at the entrance to our community go on plus your own, its a lot of fun.

Can you smell those cookies-December 6-2008

Now I dont claim to be the best baker in the world, as most of friends can atest to. But I did bake both of these things and they turned out delicious.
I find sugar cookies really hard to bake, this recipe was easy and fast and good.
Now the fruitcake came out of a magazine I have (life 1953)-makes a big batch of fruit cakes. Cant tell you how they taste yet as you have to store them in the back of a closet for at least 3 weeks.

Catching up dec 4, and 5 - Daily Journal

oKAY i am behind but I am all caught up now. Life just seems to get in the way of art.
Did not do to much Christmas stuff on Thursday..after all there is only so much you can do. Did manage to take this Christmas picture of our sweet Sofie. Posed just like a real trooper.

Worked on Some Christmas cards and that is about it.

Now tonight was my Moms Wine and Cheese party for her building. My mom lives in a high rise building full of older people who are able to still do stuff no nursing required. She has her own apt, and eats all her meals in the dining room in the building.,
Every year they have a Christmas party, they treat them really well there. We had wine, rum and eggnog, punch, hot appetizers, cheese, desserts and entertainment.
The theme was all around the world. They had Scottish dancers (as you can see from the picture) in the auditorium, Germans songs, in the lounge, etc.
Everyone gets dressed up in their best and family comes. As you can Santa was invited.
It was a really nice event. When I left it was snowing so it really made if feel like Christmas was coming.

The Road

I just finished this novel called "The Road" last week. I loved this book it is by Cormac McCarthy - he won an Pultzer Prize for it and he should have. If you are looking for a cheery book it is not for you. When you look at my picture it looks dark, dirty and really so is the book. Not dirty dirty, but you can feel the dirt on these characters. I love this book and recommend it to anyone .....who likes dark books. I cried at the end of it. I have been rolling it around in my mind for a week and cant get it out and I felt compelled to draw this picture. It is not pretty and nice and it was not meant to be.

ornamental excitement for Dec 3

Every year for Christmas when I was in my Crafty phase. I would make 1 thing for Christmas. This was my first cross stich project something my daughter will have forever.
One year I found this pattern to make a bear in one of those christmas books..I should have made more than one and of course I have lost the pattern.
These chior dolls are made of toliet paper holders, nylons and I love them.....I used to have more but they seem to have gone missing.
Every year I go on the hunt for a special ornament to give to my daughter for Christmas. This way when she goes out on her own she has some oranments of her own and when she looks at them she remembers they are from me.

These ornaments are made from fabric and strofoam balls. One Sunday my friend Lois had us over and we learned from her how to make these balls, I think I have 4.

Goodnight December 2,

In between taking my mother for a doctors appointment. The snowy weather, wind and ice, I manged to put up the lights and the ribbon on the tree.
I have been having a good time with the journal. The secret is having most of it done way before December.
Just taking the pictures and adding them on the day and little bit of emblishment and this and that
and there you have it.
I love these snowmen that my daughter made....I am not much of a saver, but I did keep a few important things that she made me.
You must be thinking when are those traditions going to end...soon.
Hope you like December 2 stay tuned for December 3.

Welcome December

Well these are the first pages of my December daily journal. I put out a few ornaments today. Make a list of things to do, made a tag. My daughter said what does a bird have to
do with Christmas. I then said, its my journal I can do what I want. I did the front and the back of the pages. Hope you like it.
