Just going with it

I decided it was time to change it up and today made a small collage first it was just black and white, then I tore the square to rough it up some, because it looked boring.  Then I decided to use some colour, which I had a small leftover square of some painted papers, and then decided it was off centre, its all better go with odd numbers so used a stamp . I always worry while making a collage about the balance.  So here's the question of the day, if you make a collage, do you just go with it, or do you plan it out?

  1. I rarely plan out collages - they seem to take on a life of their own as I play with the papers and composition. I like yours a lot and the addition of color behind was a great choice. Really like those bl/wh flowers too. Thanks for visiting me.

  2. I think it turned out nicely! I don't plan collages, I just let them evolve as I go. I do usually have some intention, but it tends to change dramatically as I continue working. Hmmm, you've reminded me I need to get back into collage! I've mostly been painting lately.

I do exactly what you do! Start and then add as I see fit...either adding color or something to balance it out with..

  8. a bit of both really... I put the stuff down in a rough plan and then stick it down and maybe move it round a bit or add bits on later .... but let your heart speak here and just follow your instincts

  11. The collage is beautiful! Love the black and white with just a little bit of color showing.

I seldom ever plan out anything when I'm doing art.
